ere systems and famae 542 support.

I don't believe so, people have complained they get no response back from ERE, I sent him an email about 1 year ago and received a prompt response back, but have tried since with no response back. Tactical imports does business also with Famae, so if you need parts they maybe the people to contact

I have the SG540 wish I bought the 542 as well, Kelly's was selling them brand new for 1995.00. That was when there was very few NR black guns. But that has changed drastically, so I would imagine they will not sell for that price anymore

Yep I think sales have been pretty slow on these rifles. Had a 542, nice rifles but not $2000 nice. And $100 magazines were a turn off....I think if they could have brought the price point down to $1500 they would have been viable.

I emailed them Feb 22 and Feb 23 and response back the same day in about 2 hrs each time sent 3 different e mails I had excellent service

Seems like it turned out to be yet another small batch import gun to canada unfortunately.
The complete lack of any support for a rifle with that high a price tag was the biggest factor in preventing me from picking one up all these years.
Which sucks because it's a great really cool rifle.
I was hoping the market would have been flooded with them and spare parts for days but this never turned out to be the case unfortunately.

Tactical imports, they do orders for Famae, but they take a long time. I placed an order for all trigger parts and parts like firing pin and springs, anything I could think would break, I have been waiting for over 1 year now for parts to arrive

You could buy them brand new from Kelly's 6 months ago for 1995.00

There are different models. The '$3000' rifles from CSC were a limited run done in tan with tan furniture and threaded barrels. There are also some done in black were a few hundred cheaper. Finish is top notch, and comparing side by side with one of the '$2000' units the action felt noticeably smoother. Don't know if it was or not, maybe just confirmation bias from having gotten a pricer model, but I did note it being slicker between the 2 examples I had at the time. Is an extra 1000 worth it? No, probably not to most people, but I am really happy with mine. I agree with the comments made on the price point of the rifles. My understanding is that FAMAE uses old manufacturing techniques to build these rifles, so I don't doubt that they are relatively pricey to make, and when pitted against current gen guns built on cnc's I can appreciate the difficulting in shelling out 2.5-3k for a FAMAE when the same money can get a XCR or high end modern AR10. I too think they would sell well if in the 1600-1900 range. Or they would have sold better at this price 10 years ago when there weren't many NR black rifle options on the market. They are still fantastic guns. I am a huge fan of the whole FAMAE lineup.

I picked up my SG540 brand spanking new for $2000. To me that was a fair price but much above and it starts to become robbery.

I agree it would have been nice to see them priced attractively (instead of the original $3k) and sell a s#!t load of them. At $1700 - $1800 they would fly off the shelves.

Mine has been absolutely bomb proof reliable and doesn't suffer from all the problems the "latest and greatest" rifles on the market have.

Yes, the lack of parts support pisses me off. Thankfully I've not yet needed anything for it but it would be better knowing that if something did ever happen to go wrong my rifle wouldn't become a useless paperweight.

Aye. 100% agree.
I still toss and turn at night debating one.
I love the crude stamped sheet metal and welding assembly.
I've heard nothing but utmost reliability with them all around.
But I know from owning two AR180b rifles years back and having a critical part fail I no longer have the stomach for a cool rifle with zero parts support.
I buy my guns like I buy my beater trucks. Affordable, reliable and cheap parts galore if needed.
If they wanted to make a million bucks all they would have to do is bring them in larger numbers and not single source gouge on the sticker price.
I would be all in for one in the 1300 to 1500 range.
If not the M305 does everything I need for 500 off the EE all day long.

That's one of the reasons I sold my SG542. Replacement parts were relatively expensive and you had few options to source them. Mine was the least reliable semi-auto I've owned so far....It loved to FTE or stovepipe (gas setting didn't matter) and the factory magazine follower liked to occasionally bind up causing feed issues. Which I wouldn't care if the 542 mags weren't $105....and my upper and lower had a pretty pronounced rattle to it after about 200 rounds, and it absolutely destroyed brass. It's possible mine was a lemon, I really loved the idea of the Famae rifles, they just fell short on execution unfortunately.

Jesus that sucks!
At that price and with zero support...fack that!
Well, I guess I made the right choice all these years unfortunately.

I heard the problem is/was famae wants even more for the rifles. They seem pretty delusional. I have a 540, 542, and saf. They're nice but overpriced.

Heard the same Kinda, I hear Famae wants to break out into the american market so decided to jack the price up thinking that was a good idea which is why imports into Canada stopped.

My 542 runs great, like it was made to. Prep for firing and it eats..... a little heavy but it is a solid main battle rifle, that's what it is. Loves Hirtenberger ball..... Reminds me of the old FNC1s, but I like it better. Factory peep sights are fine sighted, mines set up with a QD red dot + a QD 1x4 30mm Burris LRS #4 reticle. Fun to shoot, great on steel plates. Thumbs up from me, I picked mine up for 2K. A little steep for the ERE receiver rail + the foregrip rail: they work, fit well, are solid but the price is gouging......

I think a lot of issues has to deal with Chile which is not really a first world government in many aspects.

Also that SG54X is going away FAMAE is making IWI Galil to replace the 54X.
