Topic came up today, I remember buying a CZ shadow when they first came out as it had glowing reviews and owners hype on accuracy etc.., after few mags I knew it wasn`t for me and found one of my tupperware`s was more accurate and off it went to a new home as quickly as it arrived..
...At the other end of the spectrum I bought a P99 which was deemed a POS on here by many and actually had 0 FTF or FTE, gun ran like a sewing machine..

Walther P-22...POS, good friend of mine bought a Para at the same day but turn out he sold it after several range section because of peening and FTF.

Trying a new pistol with only a "few mags" and getting rid of it is foolish. Each pistol is different, have to get used to it. I'm sure someone who bought it used from you was happy with your willingness to give up so soon. The CZ Shadow is a good gun by the way, out of the box. Never had an old one, but have never heard anything bad about them in their history.

not really, if you can`t try before you buy and you own lots of others you tend to know what works for you and what doesn`t.

So you know what works for you and what doesn't but managed to buy one that doesn't work for you?

My thoughts...
And usually, you just do some research on the product you want to buy.

I bought my Remington 870 on impulse (Day after I got my PAL), and Haven't regret the purchase yet. However.. I had to buy another barrel (a Smooth bore Barrel, The one I bought was a fully Rifled barrel) but needless to say, With the change of a barrel.. I have a very versatile shotgun/slug-gun.

Not myself, but I've talked with people that have it set in their minds that they absolutely have to get a ________ pistol when they get their license.
Ooooookay.....have you shot one before? ....No
Handled one? ....Nope :confused::confused::confused:
(desperately trying not to damper their enthusiasm) So, uhhhh, why do you want one? ....'cause I use one in _______ video game and it kicks ass.

Grrrr :HR: :slap: f:P:2:

OK then. Enjoy!

I have a ppk that I've had for 30 yrs (paid $50 for it). I still have a few rounds in the original box of shells, and while I'll never sell it, it isn't my favorite, but it looks nice

Ruger SR9.

I have a Ruger 89DC which is ugly, klunky and the grip doesn't fit my hand all that well as the grip is fairly wide. Also the trigger isn't that great. That being said, it shoots very well and has been super reliable with no problems after thousands of rounds. It was the second pistol I purchased so I was looking for something to replace it with that would answer its shortcomings now that I have much more experience. I really liked the SR9 and really wanted it to work. It fit my hand well. The sights were nice. I liked the low axis on the barrel. It was light and being one of the newer ones it had a decent trigger right out of the box.

I tried different ammo, I worked on my grip, I focused on the trigger. Nothing worked. Even with a bench rest it would shoot all over the paper. A magnitude worse than any of my other handguns which include Norinco's, Tokarev's and 130 year old antiques. There was no way I was going to replace the 89DC with it so the SR9 is gone now.

After getting to know how it is made internally I decided that plastic just isn't for me. I think of guns as heirlooms and part of family heritage that are to be passed down from one generation to the next. I doubt that any SR9 will be in shootable condition in 130 years. I see planned obsolescence in the slide to frame interface and in the polymer material itself.

I nearly bought a Sig P210. I realize that these are a quality piece and the legend fit nicely in my hand. Luckily I was able to rent one before I bought. I was really disappointed. I realize that many feel that this is one f he finest pistols ever made, I just couldn't make it work for me. That rental saved me two grand.

My list of purchases that failed to live up to hype:

-Pietta SAA
-Pedersoli Sharps
-Chiappa Winchester 92 clone
-Norinco 1911A1
-CZ858 with untabbed carrier
-P220 with heel release
-AR180B

I'm sure I could think of more if I tried...

Never bought one, but 2 guns that always got a lot of hype and I always wanted to shoot were the Browning HP and CZ 75. Finally shot both and it was a big meh.....

Have i bought a pistol that disapointed me afterwards, yes. Will it happen again, probably. Will I shoot any type of pistol first before I buy it, definately. And anyone who says they havent bought a firearm that has disapointed them in some shape or form is a liar or they dont own enough guns.
