Exciting new SKS Picatinny Scope rail

Holy crap I can't believe the complaints about the price. It's quite reasonable for what you're getting, you guys are just too used to dirt cheap Chinese copies of everything. I might order one just because it's an innovative Canadian product if you guys get some stock on enough ammo that I want in order to get the free shipping...

Plenty of us have ordered and will be testing them, so if you are worried just wait a few weeks.

For me the BC tactical scout mount didn't work as it was ringing casings off my red dot, even trashed a TRS-25. So my options were buy a dust cover scope mount + deflector or go with this.

If it's innovative Canadian product than it's fine. Thanks god SKS is not made in Canada. It's not even possible to imagine how much would it cost if it was innovative Canadian product as well.

Even a zero magnification reflex sight would be just fine for the SKS. It's not a precision instrument and you can hit a man-sized target at 300-400yds if you know what you're doing. With that being said, a fixed 4 is a good option, 1-4 variable compact is not a bad option either.

So does the SKS unless you modify the port

If by "straight up" you really mean "all over the place at random" then yes, the SKS does that too.

I'd buy but, for now, I like my stock sks sights. Perhaps in the future after hearing some user-reviews I would consider such an addition.

I shoot in a relatively poorly lit indoor range for now, so whatever I shoot needs at least a peep and probably optics.. While steel core was allowed, there was no way for me to use stock irons (peeps worked, though), so I had to mount optics on mine.. Used an SKS dovetail mount and some cheapie scopes. The elcheapo reddot held up well, the 2-6 shortie started dropping ball bearings lol

SKS costs a lot more than that to produce from scratch. The only reason it's a $200 gun is because there's so much surplus stock out there.

chineese ones are new manufacture... still being produced and issued to the army. They sell cheeper then the surpuss russians and everyone in the chain makes a buck...

Wages is the killer not materials..... the rails cost so much because in Canada everyone likes nice things and there for insures a hefty profit from items they produce. You can't fault them, we all do it, whether we are the ones asking the high item prices, or asking for the high wages, the result is the same.

A perfect example. A tippmann 98C in the late 90's cost less then $65 to put in a box and have it shipped to a store (thats start to finish wages, materials, and shop overhead, from the mouth of an employee that worked at tippmann at the time). The price tag on the shelf was over $300 for a base model.

Anyone get theirs yet? Just curious to see a picture of all the included hardware and more detailed shots of the rail. Mine arrives on the 24th
