Exciting new SKS Picatinny Scope rail

$130.00 - for what?

Why would anyone spend that kind of cash for a product that's not doing anything for you that a Choate won't do?

And it eliminates the use of stripper clips - wow!

Buy the Choate mount for less than $40 - have it mounted for another $40 and spend an extra $50 on your scope / red dot and keep your tech sites on as a backup!

This is really a no brainier!!!

The time it takes you to load 5 rounds into your stripper clip , well I will have my rifle loaded.

got mine yesterday, Install took only a couple of minutes.

My only complaint so far is that the rear replacement take down pin has open bolts on both sides.
Maybe in the future a carriage bolt (with proper square hole in the sight mount to stop the spin) and the allen bolt that screws into it on the other side. It would make it much easier to take apart and put back together.

I'm out right now but I'll post a longer review and pictures/video tonight. Quick summary: no issues, no jams, and held 0 great. Got about 1-1.5" group of 5 at 50 yards using a bushnell trs-25. Had plenty of interest at the range too :) will post more later! Very happy so far tho.

I gotta agree, not sure what the whole fuss about stripper clips is, at least for me shooting paper at the range. Maybe it's a bigger deal for guys in the bush hunting?? I have removable tapco mags I could use stripper clips if I wanted...

Very cool design. A suggestion to whoever makes this; replace the Sks top cover altogether and integrate a fixed aperture sight.

Yes, custom hardware is in the works running along these lines.

Interesting idea to be sure, but this would add significantly to the cost of the rail .... the objective was to create a rail that allowed for easy cleaning, would hold zero, would protect the optic from spent casings and would allow a lot of options for optic mountings .... and all at a cost significantly less than the current retail cost of an SKS.

Many good ideas were rejected due to costs involved in production and the inevitable higher retail price.

Perhaps knowing the design parameters will help some understand why their particular preferred features were not included. In the end some choices were made and this is the result. Given the current demand for the product it seems as if a significant number of the buying public like what they see.

Yes Yukon, but trying to stay low key here ... just trying to answer questions and explain the concept.

Glad u like it bro ...

I don't think holding zero will be an issue and am pleased to see that is the experience of all so far.

Huh?

What are you failing to say?

I mean it only takes seconds to load the SKS by hand. Not using stripper clips really is not an issue!

or

the time it takes you to load a stripper clip with 5 round and then load them into your rifle probably takes longer then just loading the rifle directly. I dont know about you but I can reload in about 4 or 5 seconds without the stripper clip.

I think your missing the point with the stripper clips. It takes 1.5 seconds to dump up to 10 rounds into the sks with a stripper clip, most of that is lining up the clip with the guide.
My ammo is pre-oaded on clips, or I preload it before going to the range, I chopped and crimped a bunch of ten round clips into 5 round clips.
If your reloading with loose rounds out of your pocket or range box, your not going to put them on a stripper clip so you can load and shoot a single mag at a time.

now as other people mentioned.... just use tapco mags.
