Experimental AR "Full Deck"

DemoDude did this so I tried it too.

With HeliDocs help I cut the bottom of an old mag body, made a square "U" shaped bracket, rivited it to the lower body and to the top floor plate and I have a (10)30 round mag is size and feel.

Now it will fit my pouches and have a decent grip.

I used a hacksaw.

DemoDude painted his (pink fingerpaint from what I could tell). I think it would blend in better if I did similar but in a more masculine black or tan.

Sorry guys, but why give the occasional nutbar who lurks here such yucky info?

I'm sure that there exists on a gunrange here in Canada a real need to spit 40 5.56 rounds downrange in 60 seconds ... but I don't wanna be making small-talk (like "Nice hockey-bag you have there :)")with that person.

WELL, I don't want to be making small-talk with the type of person who would have a need to put 10 rounds of 5.56 down range in 2.5 seconds, 8 rounds of 30.06 in 2 seconds or 5 rounds of 7.62 (39 or 51) in 1.5 seconds, let alone ANYONE who would even think of putting 9 rounds of 00 buck down range in 8 seconds...

...people like that are just no good and should be "put away" now!, for the good of us all!!!

OWWWW!, I think I broke my sarcasm bone!

May be I am wrong ,so please correct me.

Mark from Questar said in one of the threads that initially they have submitted to the RCMP a 30 rounds magazine been pinned or lanced to 10 rounds , so that design was rejected.

So they had to redesign a complete new magazine.

My question for you is : If the RCMP see that magazine is it legal.

Because what I see is a 30 rounds magazine with a floor plate at 10 rounds.(I know what you did exactly but for the untrained eye.)

Thanks.

Of course it's legal. It's a RRA pistol mag with a peice of hollow steel rivited to it. No different than putting a fat base plate on a pistol mag.

Many an untrained eye have "seen" a machine gun when the firearm in question was a bolt action hunting rife. Regardless of what was "seen" it was still a bolt action hunting rifle and this is still a 10 round pistol mag.

Has anyone done something like this for the RRA 9mm 10 round mags? I think I may end up fumbling around quite a bit reloading such a short magazine into my AR

With that one I'd connect six mags - two up, two down, and two middle, but the middle ones go in opposite right angles to the up and down mags. Are they long enough for that?

Ummm. Did I miss the point? What is the purpose for bubba'ing two ten round mags together? Why not just buy a 20 or 30. The duct tape looks cheap.

Was the point just to have 4 10 rnd mags tied together like the butler creek 10/22 25 rnd mags clip together? Wy would I want to carry the extra weight on my rifle when I could just pop a mag from a pouch, vest, table, buttcrack?

This whole thread makes no sense. I declare you all crazy! I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, or that it is wrong. I'm just saying it is a dumb idea. Just like the rest of the "tacticool" crowd who are not happy until their black rifles and shotguns have 40-50 lbs of useless crap tied, screwed bolted or duct taped to it.

Laser pointer -Check!
FLashlight - Check!
Front post handle - Check!
Collapsable folding stock with spare slots for ammunition and toolkit - Check!
Case of 1000 rounds duct taped to the side of the buttstock - Check!
Bayonette - Check!
Backup pointy thing - Check!
Kitchen sink - Check!
Jar of pickles - Check!
Acog and Buis - Check!
Extended mag release - Check!

Now who can lift the damn thing let alone use it?

I can not speak for others however this is my thinking. I like the idea of taking a 10 round mag, and giving it the physical dimensions of a 30 round mag.

I have a Load bearing Vest that I spent good money on, with pouches geared towards the physical dimensions of a 30 round mags.

Im not sure where you are from, however in Canada, we are limited to 5 rounds in those mags. However recently there has been an opportunity to use 10 round mags, or double the capacity. It just happens to be in a much smaller format.

Now It is my desire to use the largest capacity mags allowed here in Canada, but have it in a similar physical profile as a 30 round mag. This way, one can use existing gear, as well as develop proper muscle memory and habits for a large profile mag, using the largest legal capacity mags allowable.

Why is that muscle memory so important?? Well, there are many educational shooting opportunities in the States, and they use full 30 round mags in those courses. So if one has proper muscle memory, one is not at a disadvantage taking those courses.

These are just my thoughts. You are free to disagree, but I do not appreciate you calling me crazy.

Further, your term “buba” would indicate shoddy workmanship. I have seen some pretty innovative ideas here, and I think some pretty good results as well. I am referring to the following so that we are clear.

Respectfully your

For the record, I find the First Samco only passable for magazine joining. Sure, they work, but since they are made of plastic, they are also somewhat slick and so inserting one magazine hard can move the joiner a bit. It is also much higher than the Marstar unit, but could it be cut in half for use?

It occured to me that some grip tape on the inside of the slick plastic joiner would help keep things snug.
