Dam I sure would like to one but something tells me that this is going to be a short lived shotgun I will wait a couple of months and see what happens
 
Sorry to hijack but from these 3 questions I will decide if I get one or not...

1- Is there a J-lock thingy on these???
2- Can you swap the forend for a surefire forend???
3- Is a full side-saddle on an unloaded gun considered as an un-loaded gun ? ( dedicated car gun ) and can you even fit one one these babys??

Well, that much i know.

A side saddle is not a magazine. Therefore, a side saddle attached to the gun does not make the gun 'loaded' for the purposes of the law. So yes - anywhere you can have ammo with the gun (which you can't always in some storage situations for example) you could have the side saddle.

The actual action appears to be the same as any remmy action, so any sidecarrier that fit on a regular remmy 870 would fit on this one as well I expect.

1- Not on the very newest ones
2- Why? The blast might/will damage the lens, and what if you drop it?
3- Considered unloaded as they are not in the mag or chamber

The pictures of the actual gun tell me two things.

1- there is "NO" j-lock on these guns

2- A surefire forend "MAY" fit......but the gun "WILL NOT" function, as the magazine tube has been cut down and there is not enough distance now to cycle the surefire forend.......so basically, with a surefire forend you will have a nice looking paperweight for your desk.

Also, with the custom made Dlask forend........I'll bet money, that at best you would only be able to mount a 4 round side saddle.

sorry but if ammo is in contact with the gun its considered loaded, well that what i remember from a court case that was posted here a LONG time ago :puke:

I'd need to see that in writing before I'll accept it. If I can transport a firearm with loaded mags, so long as they are not inserted into the firearm, I fail to see how loose ammo kept in a holder on the gun is illegal.

Yeah.

The definition of 'loaded' is laid out in the definitions of C-68. Whatever it MIGHT have been, now it refers to a round in the chamber or in a MAGAZINE attached to the gun. The shell holder is just that - a holder. Or a bandoleer, or something along those lines. It's not a magazine. You would have to remove the ammo from the holder, and place it in a magazine or chamber in order to load and use the gun. In no way can a shell holder be considered a 'magazine'.

There's a Falcon "rail guard" that only fills the gap between the rails. I have them on my 8.5 inch full stock gun. They fit perfectly. The only problem is I had to buy a 12 pack. May offer the surplus for sale (once I find them - they're packed away for a move rioght now)

Recieved my transaction number from the RCMP today and it says that i may now take possession of my non-restricted firearm .
 
Brownells has a few to choose from. Anyone get the exact measurement or number of rails on the SMD12?

I would be willing to organize a group buy for lower mainland CGNers.

the picture at the start of the thread shows 10 rails (9 slots) going by ther picture in Brownells each rail guard fills 5 slots so you should be good to go with 4 covers (2 per side) .so a 12 pack will do 3 SMD12s

I also found a great deal on some 18 rib sets of 4 that could cover 4 SMD12s, assuming they can be cut and still work right.
