Extended Rail for MR1??¿

Also picked up a MESA cheek riser (for the Hell of it). I'm going to grab some 1/4" square steel bar stock, cut it to length, drill it, blue it and mount it with recessed hex screws. Done.

A cheek riser now? I figured you wouldn't need this now that you had the extra rail to work with.

What is the issue with the front sight? I don't find that it gets in the way, and if you ever went back to iron sites, you can't undo this. You could take the sight to a belt sander to get most of it off and then hand sand it from there, and polish it off with a fine grit. If you are careful, there won't be too many marks. You could then paint the hand guard. The paint should fill in and scratches. You can use that krylon plastic spray paint.

The cheek riser will make things perfect, still sitting about 1/2" high. Remember, the rifle was designed around the iron sights. I have no intention of ever using the irons. Just can't leave things alone ya know.

Maybe you just need to get that eotech. The reticle is much higher than iron sights. They are pricey, but I fell in love with the reticle. Can't wait to get my magnifier for it.

Here are some photos of my rail.

So far I really like the rail. It really opens up options and I don't have any problems getting a good cheek weld with the scope. I have to thank Rick and the folks at ATRS. It was a really good way to spend $180.

ATRS had my rail shipped by wednesday but I Only got it today as I was out of town. Got her installed (broke another t15 bit) and here are the photos. As you can see, I now have space for my 3x magnifier. Thanks ATRS. Good quality product.

Red dots like Eotech, Aimpoint and Vortex all look blurry to me due to an astigmatism in my right (dominant) eye. I need to stick to etched glass in order to have a clear target.

Have you seen or used a Leupold Prismatic?

It's a fixed 1x "prism" sight, I have heard people say it works great with astigmatisms or eye defects and you get the advantages of etched glass and 1x speed, the only downside is the exit pupil and eye relief are fixed (although less rigid than with higher powered scopes)

Can even use the illumination module with it.

And Leupold tends to cost way too much.

NoTarget. Do they not work because you cannot focus the reticle, where as the traditional scopes have (usually) an adjustable diopter?

I looked at it but I decided to go with a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24 scope. For $550 and a lifetime no questions asked warranty I figured I can't go wrong.

The red dots look perfect when I look through my left eye but are blurry when I use my right (dominant) eye. The irony is that I was recently at the optometrist and I don't require any correction in my right eye but my left eye needs a little help.

I guess they can't correct astigmatism.

How do you find the Viper PST? I was really interested in it, but I had that EOtech, and absolutely love it so I had to employ it. I'm going to order in the vortex magnifier this week. I haven't seen or heard anything bad about Vortex. I Killed my 13 point buck with a Vortex diamondback.

The Viper PST is a really nice scope. I just picked it up this week and sighted it in. I was really impressed with it.

PST's are a great choice (even above leupold IMHO) I have a 4-16 PST on my Tikka T3 Tac bolt gun :D

I really like the 1-4's as well.

Just figured I'd mention the Prismatic since some people have had good results with them :D
