Favorite rifle to carry that you own....

Well I have to say the rifle that almost always comes with me hunting is my boring old Ruger MKII in .308win topped with a Leupold VX-I 2x7 in factory Ruger rings. It has never let me down and when I put the cross hairs in the right spot, the deer fall down.

But I must admit that JYC has made a good choice.

Depending on the season, it is my 223 Remoington LVSF with a VXIII Varmit hutners reticle 4.5-14 or my Mdl70 based 300WSM with a Vari X III 2.5-8x36 scope, in Talley mounts...

The nicest to carry was my Remington 700 ADL 243 with the 22-inch barrel, but it just doesn't have the accuracy that it used to, besides if I also have a tag for black bear or moose in my pocket I want just a little more horsepower.

So my favourite now is my 1953 Husquvarna 270.

There is no question as to choice My 35 whelen imp. on a 98 mauser action. Gotta be one of the best all round cals out there. They didn't call it the poor mans magium for no reason back in the 20's. It's capable of taking down anything North america. Its shot bear , deer, moose, elk, even a grouse or two with light loads.

Second choice would be my 7x57 Rem classic

I have a 375 RUM as well but it is a standard Rem 700 LSS s/s with a standard scope mount, I also have a synthetic stock for when I'm in extreme weather areas here in BC.

I am totally interested in what you had done...

What is the barrel length and have you chronographed any loads for it?

Also what loads are you using?

You need to get involved in the 25 yard bear charge stopping shoot that we are doing with that thing...

I'd love to see it in action...

My barrel length is 20", and I am getting 2900 with 260's (although I now load them to 2600), 2800 with 270's, 2600 with 300's, and 2300 with 380's. The velocities are chronied. I use H-4350 exclusively, 90 grs with the reduced 260's, 95.0 with 270's, 90.0 with 300's and 84.0 with 380's.

I'm working on getting out for the speed shoot, but I don't know how to up load video. When that thread started I looked back at the video I had of shooting at a plastic pail pulled behind the Jeep, and 4 shots took about 5 seconds - tracking a pail that was rolling, bouncing, and jumping rapidly towards me. Maybe I can do something on Friday, with the .375 and my 590.

I usually reach for my tang safety Ruger 77, 30-06,Bushnell 2.5x8. I have never fed it a factory round, and have comfort and confidence in it.
Rimfire walks get the Rossi gallery carbine,it puts a spring in my step.

My 1929 Winchester 94 30-30, or my Remington 700 ADL 243, or.... aww nutz I usually carry 2 or 3 and shootem all. I always take two when deer hunting and still want to take more.

The M1 is always a hoot and the SKS is fun now that I have a gazillion rounds.

OK, OK, maybe the 94......doh!

A custom model 700 in 6mm Remingtion. Just about everythign else I have is either restricted or not a a rifle.

I haven't posted to now because I could not really decide on one... I tried but I couldn't do it...

For 20 years it would have been my Voerre actioned semi custom 26" sporter barreled 308 Norma Mag.

I have now gotten totally tired of worrying about oiling my guns during trips into the Interior/Coast of BC that I am switching everything to stainless steel.

Depending on where I am and the conditions or what I am doing/hunting it is either of the following...

300RUM and a 375RUM here's a pic of both... The 375 is on the top and now has a 4.5x-14x VX111 B/C reticle scope instead of the 2.5x-8x that is mounted in the pic.

The other guns would be my Marlin 1895GS 45-70 and now because I have an ATC my go to handgun is my Ruger SRH 454 Casull shortened by Gunnar to 4.25"...

In bear country, it would be my .35 Whelen (Remington 700 Classic) or .338 Win Mag (Tikka 695). In deer country it would be my Ruger Number 1 International (7x57) or Tikka 695 in 6.5x55. The Ruger, especially, is a joy to carry.
