Favorite rifle to carry that you own....

Hard to choose just one... :)

I know it is, but this is why I asked :)

Like I said in the begining, we all have our rifles picked out for certain specific hunts. But my question was if you were heading out for a walk in one of the areas you frequent, what one rifle would you take. Which one is your all around favorite carry along rifle.

I have a hell of a time picking just one as well :runaway: :D

CD I tried but I just can't do it...

I have different guns for different reasons just like a master woodworker has to have so many different wood working tools... He can't build that house and cabinets and install tiles and flooring with his skill saw just like I can't pick just one firearm.

OK OK I'll pick my Marlin 1895GS 45-70 but I am not happy about it... I'm also going to pick a handgun because you didn't state that I couldn't.... ;)

I pick my SRH that I posted earlier...

I'd have to say my favourite gun to carry I think would be my 10-22 or recently my BL-22
For rifles, it would have to be my Dirty thirty with scout mount...
Its like carrying a toy...

Favorite Carry Rifle

Well I can't walk very far, as I have a physical disability. I have a permit to hunt from my truck, but can't do drive-by's.

These are some of my favorite carry guns.
Remington 700 BDL with a 22" Stainless Remington, Mountain Rifle slim contour barrel in 7-08. I like the lightweight and the reduction in length makes it compact.

Ruger No1, AB model, in 7X57, the gun is short but heavy, I guess it also works take up the recoil of the round. The AB model doesn’t have any sights, I dislike the Ruger sights. They take away from the slim lines of the No1's.

My varmint rifle is a Sako A1 in 223, with a laminated stock with palm swell, and a barrel about the size of a pencil. This makes the gun very, light.

For deer hunting my all-time fave is a 760 Carbine in .308. I have a Burris 1.75x5 that prolly will be the next scope on it. It belonged to my grandfather.

For moose (when I get to go  ), it's my 7600 in 35Whelen w/1.5x5 Leupold.

I have tried MANY other guns, but just can't seem to find one I like better than that .308.

.

Browning A-Bolt in 7 Rem Mag but only because my 270 can be too small at times. i have it loaded with 100 gr hp's and 76.5 grs reloader 22 goin around 4000 fps for yotes etc and 139 gr interbonds for deer etc.

oops ... forgot ...
in pointy tooth & claw country - ruger#3 in 45/70. receiver sights, very light.
i can carry it all day and i'm an old fart.

Lately my Fav has become my Titanium 700 in 260 Rem.

Weighs in at exactly 6-1/4 Lbs ALL UP with a Leo VX II 3-9x40 in a set of 2 ounce Talley lightweights:cool:

I love the Lightweight...I can Hike that little bit Further;)

I feel real bad saying this, but the new kid on the block is my 336XLR in 30-30. I've been killing a lot of rocks with it. That is a sweet and fun little gun. Too early to comment on it as a hunter though.

Albayo has a nice gun in a classic round that I'd like to carry:
Ruger No1, AB model, in 7X57, the gun is short but heavy to take up the recoil of the round. The AB model doesn’t have any sights.

Nothing wrong with a turdy turdy as a all around carry gun. :)
