Favorite rifle to carry that you own....

IMO for carry purposes, the rifle that is most comfortable and capable for all legal game in Ontario is my model '94 Winchester in 30-30.

You can cradle that baby all day without getting tired of it. It's light, well balanced and compact. It's like a dog, a man's best friend. :D

Strictly for carry preference, my Marlin 336 in 3030 with a Williams peep sight.
The 1895 Guide is almost the same, but not... quite.

I find both of these rifles compact and nicely balanced, and quick to come up on point.

My Remington 700 Mountain rifle is also very quick to point, but not quite the same as the 'can openers'.

Parker Hale 1200M
.308 Norma Magnum
Outstanding shooter for a mauser action and a very impressive calibre

This rifle rocks
I love mausers
Leupold M8 4X32 fixed
Rock solid with redfield mounts / rings.
She is a little heavier than your standard lightweight.
However I regularly carry full wood .303's in the bush with the Rangers so this rifle feels light weight (to me).

Groundhog season : M700 SPS .223 with Leupold knockoff tactical 3.5 x 10 x 40mm M1 knobs, Harris 7-12" swivel bipod

Deer season: Marlin 1894C .357M more of a walking around gun. Stand gun: M700 Police .308 of course.

Well, uhm....

Currently, I would have to say a Browning A-Bolt II "Gold Medallion" in 30.06 (pictured) with ear defenning Boss at 24" down the barrel, looking through a VX-II 4-12X40 AO fine duplex, with a tan leather cobra sling, very comfy, but loud (Boss that is).

But that's all going to change in the next couple of months;
As the new baby will coming home from the doctors when she's all done.

You know how it goes when you get a new toy, it commands a fair amount of attention to get it all set up the way you like them (loads and stuff that is).

Soon to be a Browning BBR 340 Weatherby Mag, 26.5" Gaillard barrel, topped with a VX-III 4.5-14X40 AO fine duplex. it will weigh a bit more than the A-Bolt (less time at gym more hunting) and probably roar loader too (less time hearing/listening to girlfriend). It's going to be fun.

Kimber 84M in .243, 6lb with the right scope

For my all around bush gun I always take my Remington 7600P .308 whether I'm prospecting, hunting, fishing or quading. 16.5 inch bbl and a folder. It is light, dependable and takes 10 rounds of Hornady 150 gr. SST light mags no problem.

My personal preferance would be a light pump action 12 guage.

When I'm camping etc, I bring my Fabarm Martial 14" with Slugs and triple-ought buck;

Ruger # 1 is one of my favorites. Love my Weatherby, but after a day of running around, it gets pretty heavy. I'm actually thinking about getting a Marlin 336 in 35 Remington, because it will stop anything, and is real light.
