Favorite rifle to carry that you own....

as dumb as it might sound, for all around when im walking ,quading and so on the first gun i grab, and my all aroud favorit is probably my 12 nef survivor. carry a medkit in the stock, a couple wrapped fire sticks in the forgrip and im good to go. takes anything its given and is light as hell. i guess if the barrel wasnt ported (id have to take my rem 700 ks mountain). too light to too shoot 3in slugs for to long.

Well I guess since I asked the origional question I should post my favorite carry rifle for the areas I frequent. This is not one of my primary hunting rifles, just one that I enjoy for all around use.

Marlin 45-70, 22" bbl with a Vari-x II 1-4x20. I own a GG as well but dont find it as versitile for all around use.

I think I would have to go with my browning .25 here in southwestern Ontario. Cant carry over .270 anyways. It is accurate, light and big enough to deal with anythng that comes along.

My mod 94 in 356 win with a williams fool proof peep sight. It's light, quick to point and aim, and will handle anything out to 250 yards.

Since no one mentioned yet I will. For sheer ease of transportibility and handiness for carrying my vote goes to the .303 jungle carbine. It's slim compact and carries easy especially in the muzzle down mode.

One day I will buy a real carry gun like Marlin 336C, but for now my Rem 700 BDL DM in .30-06 is best for carry.

Judging by the wear and tear my 7x57 has gained in the past three years, it by far is getting the most use right now and will continue to be used in the nasty stuff ie Sheep hunting. Just fitted a Dayton trigger so it will be much nicer to shoot and it is topped with a 2.5-8x36 Leupold.

Sure is hard to pick just one, I think I am really going to love my other two Brno's in 8x57 and of course my 9,3.
Too many choices is a terrible thing! LOL

I think once this post got going allot of people missed the point of the origional question.

So out of everything you own right now, what is your favorite all around carry rifle for everywhere that you travel. Hunting season or not, varmits, bear defense, just tell us what is your favorite all around carry rifle for everything is.

I guess I should have said "one rifle that you currently own, any time of the year" ;) :D The question had nothing to do with hunting season. Hard to avoid that in the hunting and sporting arms section I guess....

Lots of different responses, almost all very unique

All my serious hunting rifles are bolt actions with Leupolds, except for one - a Marlin 336 RC from 1954, with a 20" barrel and a Weaver 2.5 steel tube scope of the same vintage. It is easy to carry and the barrel is short enough not to catch on things when you walk. Its my working rifle that goes on canoe trips or remote fishing trips.

I prefer my sako finnlight in 300wsm for most anything but if I am in realy thick bush my marlin 30-30 is the one.sometimes I switch it up for fun or to prove that i realy need all those guns.

Just remember, this question is about what you own, not what you want or think is the best.
Well, that's easy... my Husqvarna Husky in .358 Norma Magnum:

Weighs just under eight pounds, all up, wearing that Leupold 3x9 Compact glass in Con-trol mounts. Light, handy, and a pretty decent shooter as well. Load it with 225 grain Barnes and it has more than enough sauce for anything walking in North America. 180 or 200 grainers for deer. Bulk pistol bullets make it inexpensive for killing tin cans at the range or gopher shooting safaris. Shot capsules are most effective for the quiet assassination of ditch chickens.

It's the one gun I would keep if forced into cleaning out the safes...
