Favorite rimfire ammo?

As for SK ammo, Rifle Match, Standard Plus and Magazine ammo are all made on the same machines to same standards and same components. They do lot checks and lots that shoot the best are sold as Rifle Match, worst are Magazine. RM and STD+ are often indistinguishable in accuracy, they come from assembly lines 1 and 2 only, Magazine normally come from lines 3 and 4. Lot number on the box includes date of production and line it came from, you just need to decipher it.

lol that’s about what I thought but was hoping for a magic recipe.for some of my center fire I do a lot of component sorting and it does make a difference for some of my competition setups but won’t turn your 11/2” hunting rifle groups into “below.25”.
Sorting may help finding 'better' ammo but I feel only if you start with 'pretty good' and go from there. I "sort" for loose bullets - able to rotate them in the case - and significantly damaged bullets. The ONLY Bulk I buy is SK Magazine and the price of that has gone up a lot in the past couple years. As Said, SK all comes from the same set of machines. The factory 'tests' samples from each 'run' and grades them according to 'their standards' and packages accordingly. I have several 22lrs and find that SK-RM is slightly better than Standard+, and for my rifles a bit better than Eley brands. I don't go to the "Top" grades since I don't compete - $15 tax in is my limit.
As I said in post 24, there is lots of info RE sorting in that link, both Pro and Con. JMO 😜
Remember, "Time is Money", even for retired people. I choose to spend a few bucks instead of a few HOURS. My cheapest ammo is Rem Golden for my AR-7s, but it doesn't go into any other rifles.

I don't have a "favorite", Tac-22 is my go-to ammo; better than Eley Contact and some other target stuff. CCI Std is OK.

I no longer use any federal products or remington. I am presently exploriing various more costly ammo. I have not yet shot enough to judge at this point.

Well, the OP never said for which purpose the favourite 22 lr. round would be.

It's a kind of like asking "What are your favorite Lotto #"...

So, OP, what do you want to use em' for, in what gun... ?

I prefer the kind that puts the bullets where you’re aiming. Whatever brand that functions reliably and accomplishes the task at hand. A pop can doesn’t need $25 a box. Plinking is for fun and shouldn’t break the bank. If your shooting matches or competitors then an upgrade will probably be required.

Eley - high velocity hollow point.
Super accurate. In the gopher patch you'll easily keep up with the .17hmrs.
Boy, I wanted that stuff to shoot well in my guns. Luckily, CCI Velocitor is a favorite of my T1x. Won't be long until I can tell you how Velocitors do on center-mass-shot gophers! lol (sounds better than gut-shot I guess)

Favorite? Need to ask your guns first, but if it's a peek into what gets packed every time I head out/no matter what gun is going? SK Rifle Match and CCI SV. I've never owned or shot a .22 that wouldn't shoot those two well.

Federal Gold Medal Target used to be a favorite in my Anschutz 1450, still have that around even though the gun sold years ago.

My go to ammunition is SK Standard Plus, it does quite well in most of my rifles, and I purchased several cases, when it was under $500/ case. When shooting 100 yards, the SK Long Range does better, so that is what I use at 100 yards and beyond. I am now down to only one 22LR, and it shoots both of those loads well, but when I finally run out of Standard Plus, I will buy only Long Range, because the price to buy either now is fairly close.

For gophers I primarily use American Eagle 38gr, but I have CCI MiniMag and it does ok. For precise shooting at paper or steel, I primarily use SK Rifle Match or Long Range Match.
I have a CZ that really likes some of the mid to upper end Eley, but my Bergara hates the Wley. It's plenty accurate with it, but the wax lubricant gums up the extractor and causes issues.
I have also used S&B Canadian Match with great success out of the CZ.
