Favourite 22 cal ammo

For general purpose plinking and gophers, I use Winchester 333. It's comparatively inexpensive, plated, and is reliable in all of my .22s.

If I want to shoot pretty groups out of my heavy barreled 10/22, I use Eley Target.

For plinking and gopher shooting, I have the most consistant luck with American Eagle amoung the cheaper offerings. It's not always the best, but never seems to be the worst amoung the many .22LR rifles and handguns I shoot it through. Usually it's somewhere near the top. It makes it easier to lay in a supply when you use the same thing in everything. I don't want a case of different ammo for every .22 we have.
It also feeds effortlessly through the ultimate clip-loader, which I can't say about plain lead bullets.

I find Federal 525 bulk and Winchester 333 both good plinking ammo. Now that CDN Tire is charging $30 a box for Federal and Wally World sells Winchester 333 for under $14 a box, 333 gets the nod. 666 Winchester rounds for less than 525 Federal. For reasonable priced target ammo my CZ 452 really likes Remington Subsonic.

$30.00 for the 525 pack? geez 2 summers ago they were $16.99. I haven't tried the Win 333's yet. thought WSS still has the Fed American Eagle for $19.99, but perhaps not. FS

The Sk Jagd line, owned by Lapua, is hugely succesful in Canada and outshoots all but top level smallbore and BR types. They have, in level of price-quality, Magazine, Standard Plus and Rifle Match, as well as Z Reduced, HP and 2 levels of Pistol Match.

For the most serious matches, there is the new Lapua line-up, Pistol OSP, Centre X, Midas + and X-Act, as well as Polar Biathlon and a few others.

I Like CCI standard velocity for target shooting. Winchester and Remington both jam up in the 2 pistols I have. CCI SV works perfect.

Wow, Thanks for all the replies. There are Alot of names I have never even heard of. Where do all you guys get your ammo ? Canadian Tire and WallyWorld always has the best price around here, but selection is Very Limited.

I get almost all of mine at Del Selin's in Vernon or Westside Stores in Salmon Arm. Of course I had to order that CCI 0074 from Scot at Cedar Valley. I think he's in On.
Support your local gunshops if you can, and if you can't try to support a "little-guy" before you hit the big box stores.

My 10/22 likes the American Eagle 38g CP HP the best and no issues with the federal bulk packs either. For more money the CCI stingers and CCI Seg HP also worked well.

I didn't think Stingers or magnums we to be used with the 10/22?
*Edited for stupidity, did I get it all?

Stingers likely not good for a target barrel. Something to do with the case being slightly longer and the chamber being tighter. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
.22mag shouldn't even fit in the barrel, you must be thinking of something else.
