Favourite hunting bullet for the 7mm Magnums?

160gr Accubond doesn't bounce off stuff, neither do Barnes 139gr LRX. I'm shooting the new 150gr Accubonds in my 280 Ackley this fall

Thanks everyone.

The 150 Accubond is news to me. That may be the ticket. I had a few 150 Scirocco’s and was hoping they would work out. Accuracy was dismal. Now to see if you can find the Accubond up here yet.

Two bullets that seem to almost always shoot well for me are the 150 NBT and 154 Interlock. They may not be as tough as some bullets or have as high a BC as others but they haven't bounced off and I haven't had to look far for game hit with either unless I put them where I shouldn't have. I can't see any reason not to try an accubond or partition or whatever other bullet excites you. I actually prefer the co performance of a 160 accubond or partition but they aren't any more accurate in my rifle and the cost for them makes it hard for me to be happier with that, when I typically am shoot a Whitetail and/or a bear or two, for moose or elk or a once in a lifetime hunt yes I will take a tougher bullet every time but only if accuracy is as good or better than the first two bullets listed.
The amount of game a friend has killed across NA and with a 150 gameking from his STW, would certainly fill a small ark. Why the 150 gameking? because nothing else came close to shooting as well.

I'm shooting a few 7's and have a couple of preferences for each.
- 7x61 S&H---- 160gr Sierra spitzer BT & 150gr Barnes TTSX BT
- 7x57-------- 154gr Hornady Interlock BT & 120gr or 140gr Barnes TTSX
- 7x57R------- Same as for the 7x57

Sweet... thus far my 7X64 prefers 150 grain over heavier (longer) bullets... will give them a try... thanks.

I think it’ll be an awesome bullet for that case size. They just put out a .277 150 accubond too that I’m exited about as well.

I have struggled for a few years getting my 7 mm wsm shooting well but finally this year have it shooting sub moa with the 168 bergers. Currently using 4831 but still going to experiment with some alternative powders.
I see the tsx/ttsx mentioned a few times here. I have heard that they don’t perform well at longer ranges, below a certain energy level. I don’t have any direct experience with that but that deterred me from trying them.

I use 160 gr Accubonds in all the 7's now - years ago I took a moose and two deer with a 162gr Hornady interlock in a 7mag and had no issues at all.

Speed, the TSX line need speed, they actually have a very narrow performance band and why I will never use them. You are correct about them not working at longer ranges, too slow, no expansion.

Barnes claims the 139gr LRX will expand down to 1400 fps. That would be 1100 yards if started @ 3150 fps MV.

2000 fps impact comes at 650 yards

I like the Accubond bullets for the bigger 7mm's, for the small 7mm's (7-08 & 7X57), I like the plain old cup & core bullets, like the 150 grain RCL, or the Hot-Cor.

I really like the 175gr Partition. It has worked well on game from as small as blacktail deer to as large as moose. I have found it to be accurate too - I've shot groups out to 500 and can hold well under MOA (3 shots). I'm getting about 2950fps using RL26. One point to note is that the actual BC is somewhere between .450 and .460 at the 2200' ASL location of my range. I base that on the muzzle velocity (Oehler 35P) and drops out to 500 yards.

Interesting the Accubond gets such a high approval rating maybe not all sizes are the same but with the 338 no two bullets in a box are the same and the tips deform extremely easily.

162 amazing and 150 Scenar have worked well.
