FINALLY Mossberg 715T/P magazine capacity decision...!!!

It is really interesting that William Etter was the one that allowed the SAN series firearms into Canada and was the one who complained the loudest that the SAN rifles should be prohibited in the SAN debacle

I agree with you on this 100% and I'm sure we are not the only ones. So good for Mossberg, they just ruined their Canadian market.

What are you rambling about? Mossberg is not responsible for our backwards laws. Why should they build their business model around Canadian gun laws?

so the original 702 plinkster for rifle only mags are now prohib?

The laws are so stupid and such nonsense it's painful just to read that.

Is the rcmp going to write a bulletin about this?

how are citizens supposed to know of they now have a "dangerous prohibited high capacity .22 lr magazine that they cannot use anymore like they used to do because mossberg has been producing a pistol in which it might fit even if you dont have the pistol and have never heard of it and dont give a crap about, and now that mag that was perfectly legal to own now is not because mossberg is producing a pistol"?

"It should be noted that the Mossberg 715T is nothing but a "Dress-up" tactical kit surrounding a Mossberg 702 Plinkster, implicating the same 25 shot cartridge magazine sold for use with the 702 Plinkster series of firearms."

Omg....

From mossberg website:

****ATTENTION: CANADIAN 715T 25-ROUND MAGAZINE NOTICE*** O.F. Mossberg introduced the new 715P, 22LR Semi-Auto Pistol at the 2014 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. This model will use the same 25-round magazine as our 715T, .22LR Semi-Auto Rifles. According to Canadian law, all 25-round 715T rifle magazines are now prohibited in Canada. To our distributors, dealers and consumers in Canada: O.F. Mossberg will replace any 25-round magazines you currently have with a 10-round magazine. Please contact Grech Outdoors for information on replacing your 715T 25-round magazine. Grech Outdoors 115 Fergus St South Mount Forest, ON N0G 2L0 519-509-4867 grechoutdoors@wightman.ca

Kryogen...Im sure the 702 mags are fine as they do not fit the 715t so alls good. However the 715t mag will fit the 702..

The RCMP don't need to inform any1 of this as this law of mag restrictions has been in place since 1993.. But it would be nice if they would

The guy that does replace the mags in canada for mossberg says that the 702 mags are not prohib and mossberg will not replace those.

Why did etter say they would be prohib then?

Not sure why he mentioned the 702 mag at all as it does not fit the criteria.. If this is really Etters response it's a good bet that the mention of the 702 was a oversight..
The 702 25 round mag is fine. It does not fit the 715p pistol... Only mags designed to fit both rifle and pistol are on the table here..

Hello Slayer..
Are you the one that sent this ? In to the RCMP? Or did you find this somewhere and just share it with all of us?
If so can you tell us where it come from? If it was you... Then good job...

it is a bullcrap rulling. any mag made and sold before the handgun version was invented / released was made and designed only for a rifle. that exactly meets the wording of the law. "designed for" how can you design product A and have them claim it was designed for something not even inverted yet.

the current production mags may now be designed / made for both and may be prohibited.

but it would be up to the cops / judge to prove when you bought the mags. not up to you to prove when you bought them.

anyone with a receipt for the mags bought before the handgun version was released would win that in court.

From what I had originally heard, there will be no more 25 round magazines imported into Canada. Before this thread had started, it was accepted as gospel that as there would be no new magazines imported into Canada all the 40,000+ magazines (guestimate at that time) would remain legal. Many of us are very anal when it comes to keeping receipts, which mean we would not have a problem to continue using them with our "proof of purchase." Now, apparently things have changed again as the laws are written in such a fashion that they are vague to all who read them except those with the power to persuade and decide.

Most LEO's are not gun nuts and would not have all the answers; Most would assume there was nothing wrong with owning something that was seemingly legal as these magazines are most likely not on the prohibited list, despite possibly not needing to be with the law written in 1993. If they did have a problem with it, they would take it and ask questions later.

Which brings us back to the end of the current Firearms Act...we're all going to be disarmed one firearm at a time until we have nothing left but sticks and stones...depending on whether or not nature has been prohibited at that time :jerkit:

I think it should be up to the RCMP to send everyone with a PAL a written letter when something becomes prohibited , not everyone has a computer or internet and can not check their website, if a law changes they should be responsible to let the public know, not the public go asking whats new, I have a 25 round 715T mag and will continue to use it , i used it today actually , until i get a written letter from the rcmp stating its now prohibited ,far as i'm concerned its legal

I will agree that it is a total nonsense to expect all mag owners to know that it's now prohib. What, are they now criminals facing jail time because they should have known?

Well then have all PAL owners give an email and send emails to all owners when stupid changes like this happen. I mean, seriously, how is the average person going to know.

Just another spike in the gun owners coffin, that the Mounties are getting ready to pound in, and then bury us. Ignorance of the law...

Well Mossberg just got a scathing email from me to every email address I can find. I won't hesitate to let people know that my 715t is a POS and so is the company that I bought it from. I do plan to elaborate on that last part when speaking in person.
