Ben777,your factory stock looks good,too...willing to sell it?

Nah... :p Its an all match # rifle including stock...
I can't sell that !!!
Here is another pic with more light... :D
I like the laminate on that stock...

Finally, i'm almost done with this project...
-1955/56 Tula all match #
-Timbersmith Monte-Carlo stock with custom slot for the bayonet
-Techsight TS200
-Tapco front post
-Bolt buffer from Techsight
-5 rounds Promag mag
-5/20 rounds Tapco mag
-Wolf spring kit ( 2 )
-Polished upper bolt + bayonet
-Tapco extended mag release

Now I need to sight this thing and shoot different kind of ammo.
The middle sight is still there, I will try to align the 3 sights...

Techsights is a gr8 upgrate but I was impress by how much the wolf spring kit reduce the trigger pull weight... I dry fired it with snaps-caps...

Enjoy and let me know what you think !!!

Special thanks to Dave @ www.hical.ca

With different light...

That Rifle is the most amazing SKS I have seen to date....

WE were going to do a Timbersmith Thumbhole conversion... but I made the mistake of researching the history of our rifles... two 1953 Tula's all matching not refurbs... I couldn't bring myself to do it... so the mods we did are a little more traditional... we saved the original receiver covers and mags... and rigged ours like this... with the recoil buffer and shell deflector the scopes have held POI for 500 rounds;

Very nice, where do you get that steel Mag? ...they look fantastic.

Does the stock help out accuracy at all? (timbersmith) I was thinking of doing the thumbhole one.

I have not had a chance to try it.
But its much more balanced and length of pull is greater wich is nice :p

Honestly I don't think that will make a noticeable improvement in accuracy. If you want to make your SKS more accurate, buy a TechSight sight, Wolf spring kit and buy some good ammunitions...

Gorgeous Man!! This is exactly how i wanted to do my first sks up....Looking at a 54 tula unissued, cant wait to see it come out looking that damn classy. How much for everything?

Thx :p

For the price, without the rifle, you can figure 200+ bucks 4 the stock, about another hundred for the TechSight and 40 for the Tapco mag. Others things like trigger springs, front sight post are not big money...

I spend some time to polish the bolt and the bayonet.
Cost me nothing to do cauz I already have all the stuff you need to polish ;)

Hope this help...

Hey there Ben I really like your idea of mimicking the Polish Honour Guard look. I think I will follow that inspiration as well, can you tell me how you polished the bolt/bolt carrier and bayonet?

Also, do you think it would be difficult to sharpen the bayonet? Any ideas how best to do so?

Thanks.

-For the bayo : make you a gift an buy some really tough stripper. Sometimes, there is some varnish on it. Its some good stuff !!! You will save alot of time by removing it with chemicals !!! Use 150-200 grit sandpaper then use 400 grit and finish with 600. After the prep is done, I apply blue polishing paste on a small cotton wheel with a rotary tool...

-For the bolt : I only polished the Upper Bolt. There is no varnish on that part. The *hard part* is the bolt handle ;) you have to take your time... Start with sandpaper 150-400-600and polish...

If you want a tip : buy some quality flexible sandpaper, *paper-back* sandpaper is crap.
I suggest you to use *cloth-back* sandpaper, this is so much nicer to work with.

Thanks a lot I'll be looking forward to some more detailed pics. For the stock would you suggest stripping, sanding and then using Tung oil to get that lighter colour look on the laminate? What would be best to seal it? Just some varnish?

Well I haven't bought the rifle yet, but I remember the bayonet was very dull. If that is how it's supposed to be I'll just leave it. I suppose I just assumed they are badass and tossing around sharp extended bayonets like that.

There is alot of forums in here on stock refinishing.
If you strip/sand it, you will loose the color...

So is almost everything from marstar!

This is what hapen when you have nice stuff for sale at gr8 price XD
