awsome job, a few weeks ago i refinshed my 1952R sks. i painted the metal flat black, sanded the wood down and put a nice clear coat on it.

thanks.
no, it was easy. I put a old shoe lace down the barrel and strung it up on a hook in our shed, and just used armour-coat spray paint from canadian tire. sofare since i painted it i put around 200 rounds through its holding up verry nice. only a little paint came off the muzzy/crown when i ran a cleaning brush down the barrel.

Yeah very nice. I really like how the wood turned out. Was it difficult to paint?

Nice job !!!
The paint look good, what kind of paint you used ???
I really like the wood, really nice job !!!
Is that the stock was red before ???

Thanks a lot I'll be looking forward to some more detailed pics. For the stock would you suggest stripping, sanding and then using Tung oil to get that lighter colour look on the laminate? What would be best to seal it? Just some varnish?
Tung oil is durable enough so you don't need a top coat like varnish. Be sure to give the tung oil time to dry between coats (a day or two). Polymerized tung oil dries faster than plain tung oil.

They both look good because it's a great looking rifle,

but if you're going to have anything stickin' out,

it might as well be the longer one.

I hate tapco so id say go with promag, nice rifle tho either or would go good with it

As much as I like the Promag, I must say The Tapco sks mag working flawlessly :yingyang:

So I have to ask.. How does it shoot?..

We will know that soon...
Honestly I don't think the accuracy improved alot with these mods...
The Wolf trigger spring kit and Techsights will help a bit but other than that...

I will test different brands of ammo and we will see what this thing can do...
Here is one of my thread on 7.62X39 ammo...

Finally, i'm almost done with this project...
-1955/56 Tula all match #
-Timbersmith Monte-Carlo stock with custom slot for the bayonet
-Techsight TS200
-Tapco front post
-Bolt buffer from Techsight
-5 rounds Promag mag
-5/20 rounds Tapco mag
-Wolf spring kit ( 2 )
-Polished upper bolt + bayonet
-Tapco extended mag release

Now I need to sight this thing and shoot different kind of ammo.
The middle sight is still there, I will try to align the 3 sights...

Techsights is a gr8 upgrate but I was impress by how much the wolf spring kit reduce the trigger pull weight... I dry fired it with snaps-caps...

Enjoy and let me know what you think !!!

Special thanks to Dave @ www.hical.ca

Did you make the custom slot for the Bayonet or did you have it ordered in that way? Was this a pain or not to do if you did it yourself? I really want to do this to an SKS as well, as I see it as the only way to change out the stocks and still do the sks rifles justice.

One of my friend did it 4 me. He's a gr8 woodworker and he told me that was not so bad... Best advice is : Take you time and Be carefull with it !!!
Don't remove too much material cauz at the end, the wall is thin between the cleaning rod slot and the bayo slot... Be gentle especially at the end. When its done you may want to solidify the inside of the stock to prevent cracks...
