First Focal Plane VS Second Focal Plane

I also have one of the Bushnell LRHS scopes with the FFP G2M reticle and it is nice at the maximum magnification and also at low power as the reticle has an aiming circle incorporated in it that is easy to use. I think they call it the "circle of death". I kind of like that name!

As cheesy as the " circle of death" may sound, at close range, as long as your target lies within that circle it will be a kill shot. At longer ranges the reticle subtensions are very nice. As a little skeptical about the whole reticle layout but after using it I think it will work quite well.

Elite Tactical ERS 3.5-21x 50mm , just read some reviews and they confirm at higher magnification you loose you're lower reticle mils (this was on sniper central). Interestingly enough, I've never seen this in other designs, live and learn I guess. The FOV at that magnification must be awfully small.

It will be dependent on how may mil your reticle extends downward and the max magnification of your scope.

H59 on my S&B 5-25 gives me 8mil at max mag (25x)
H58 on my NF 3.5-15 shows 14mil at max mag (15).

None of this is surprising. Or at least it shouldnt be.

It's surprising to me - but I'm not a professional sniper.

I'm sure there are lots of things that I know from my professional life that will likely surprise most people too......I don't tell people "it shouldn't be".....

Maybe I'll start.

I was supporting your point there pro sniper guy

Yeah I guess so. I can't afford to put that kind of money into scopes. My 1-5x24 was 1300 (stronger dollar) or so after import and 3-15x50 (weaker dollar) was 1500 or so .. still good value for the options I seen available at the time. Too bad we don't have more options and a stronger dollar.
ah, OK, fair enough.....

I guess that's why the bushies are 14-2300, and the S&B's are 33-4500....

How far would one be expecting to shoot and at what accuracy for this type of setup? Everything I know has been through watching TiborasaurusRex .
A better example is the Horus H37.
As you turn up the mag the reticle will immediately begin to disappear past the margins of your FOV. Tree style reticles will show this the most just by virtue of their design.

No disappearing reticle in the Nikon's. I know not everyone is a fan of the circle BDC, however with the Spot On app we can give you the yardages for your calibre and load. Also if you prefer hashes, the "expand your reticle" button will blow up individual magnifications and all give you the hashes where the circles cross the Y axis. We're calling it "Distance Lock" as some folks new to FFP have a hard time understanding SFP/ FFP and holdover versus magnification of reticle. (*Nikon Plug* We're also the most affordable big brand FFP scope on the market by a good margin). :)

Yes, and more illuminated models are needed, I find this makes a big difference.

Is it just me, or is this a shameless plug put forth by an industry employee posing as a "regular member" but not paying the crucial "dealer fees" to do so here on CGN?????

Nikon is not exactly the first optic I think of when considering high end tactical/target/hunting gear. It's not bad (I do own one), but I see it most often mentioned in the .22LR threads.....

If they're so good, does Nikon sponsor any shooters, or matches?

LOL nice plug!

I'm a big fan of the value Nikon offers. I had my mind set on a Vortex since I'm a huge fan of their scopes. But a similar scope from Vortex was nearly $200 more for the same magnification and features. I'm pretty happy with my Monarch, but I still have a special place in my heart for Vortex ;)

Yup, most of the Canadian National Archery team uses Nikon optics. In Alberta I've got two local guys who help me out at shows and can be found at matches. Dustin Nelson and Steven Fedoretz. We are also a main sponsor for "Trigger Effect" and "The Canadian Tradition". Dean Trumbley and Taylor Wright can be found at many tradeshows and outdoor events.

I will also note, I did mention that my last note was an obvious plug. Wasn't trying to hide it. And the OP had mentioned Nikon in his first post.

So how is an "obvious plug" allowed without you being a site sponsor???

I honestly could give a sh!t less, but many many others are scolded/infarcted/banned for things like this.....

Was meaning more like rifle use such as PRS, Service Conditions, BR, F Class, Silhouette, 3 gun, IPSC etc.
I am just genuinely curious as I've never seen one, and don't know anybody that has ever had one.
