First guns Russian SKS and Mosin Nagant

$199 for a matching Hex Receiver!!! send me a crate of those to Halifax, please!!!

the cheapest Mosins here (round Receivers) go for $220 and Hex starts at $275 :(
There's no way I could pass on that deal and I'm surprised no one else beat me to it. For those wondering I did end up buying the Mossberg Maverick 88 12 gauge 28 inch barrel version for $259.99 at Canadian Tire and shot over 300 shells already. I plan to purchase the shorter barrel to go back and forth between the hunting version and the security version. No failure to feed or fire so far on any of these guns and I bought a cheap butt stock pouch and side saddle on ebay for the Maverick. I also purchased a cheap mosin sling on ebay as well. I'm contemplating on buyng a .22 LR because ammo is so cheap but I think I'll stock up on ammo for my current guns first.

I would recommend the maverick combo with the 28 inch barrel and the 18 inch barrel. They are just as good as my mossberg combo. Hard to tell the difference.

1. No gun collection is complete without a little .22LR they're cheap, fun to plink and perfect for introducing friend/family member who never fired a gun before.
2.CanadianTire prices do fluctuate a lot from one store to another in different provinces. I lived in Oromocto, NB for 4 moths this year -for work- and found rifles/shotguns in CT in oromocto/fredericton area are sometimes $100-200 less than what they are here in Halifax. Even quite a bit of price difference between CT stores here in Halifax.

If you have your RPAL... check out the tt 33s..
And one i have really come to love is the m44s... very nice rifles! For some extra money look at the polish m44... very Nice rifle... most look to be unshot !!

I'd like an M44 but the M38 is pretty fun too plus less hastle (ie no bayonet) to go hunting with. Its a fun bush gun, plus it shoots Fireballs ! (don't use in the woods with a burn warning)

Essential milsurps for you, here is a short list
91/30- you got it
M44/M38- need one
SVT40-need one, All in BOLD use the same ammo, great for versatility, less needed cleaning supplies and ballistics
SKS- you got it
TT33- need one with RPAL
K98- need one
Enfield- need one
M1 Garrand- need one

*everything in 7.62 ie mosin/sks/svt/tt33 pistol all have the same bore diameter and will accept the same bore snakes, jags, brushes and cleaning rods (oh those Russians and their efficiency)
*don't worry doesn't happen all at once with the other rifles, 8mm is hard enough to find, 303 is about the same and well 30-06 sure ain't cheap either. Russian surplus really is the best value in centre fire firearms. .

As for 22's there are many options
Norinco JW15 and 25 are both nice 22lrs that are inexpensive based on the CZ
CZ bolt action, if affordable just buy this don't look at the other options its one of the best right now
10/22, full or takedown models if you like light semi's
GSG 15, fun 22lr but i wouldn't recommend this as a first gun
Other models include savage, remington, browning etc... i just have ownership exp with the above and i'd take any of them

I'd love to own an M1 Garand, however the one I did see was a little over $2000, but it looked in great condition though. I'm thinking of getting the M14/305 with the shorter barrel as well. I told myself I'd get "just a few" guns. Looks like I lied to myself lol.

I just received my pal in the mail today and bought these two from the local hunting store. The SKS was $229.99 plus tax and the Mosin was $199 plus tax. The SKS is a 1954 and the mosin is a 1932. The mosin stock has seen better days, but as long as it's accurate enough, I'll be happy. Only going to be target shooting with them anyways. Everything matches on the sks except the magazine number. All mosin numbers match though. The SKS pouch is from strike hard gear and the mosin pouch I got from a Canadian seller on ebay. I'm looking to get a 12 gauge Mossberg Maverick 88 next.

Can't believe I own a gun older than my grandparents!
