First I'll take it rules? or first emt?

Ok i recently told a guy I would take a 22 he had listed, he asked for my pal info, I sent it to him promptly and said I would send the emt in the morning and I did. Then all of a sudden he tells me he's sold it to another guy that sent emt before me? This is the first time I've been in this position, we both have a very good seller rating, but I'm left here pissed and not knowing what to do. I told him I would leave negative feedback and he said he will do the same for me.. I thought first I'll take it wins? Not first emt... what do you guys think?

I had the same problem with a seller on the EE. IMO it's improper and smells of a phishing scam. A seller has no business asking for a buyers info and/or money unless there's a binding contract (certainty on the parts of both parties to complete a transaction) eg offeror's offer is accepted or buyer's counteroffer is accepted by the offeror. As a buyer, I often accept an offer by saying, "I'll take your ###### for your asking price of $xx.xx if still available. If offeror says "it's all yours", we have entered into a binding contract of purchase & sale.

I would leave him a negative rating. A seller cannot leave you a negative rating I bet he told someone else that he already made a deal and they offered him more money. Some people are just greedy but karma always catches up with you

I did that, but a mod told me it didn't comply with CGN rules. So all you can do is leave neutral feedback stating what happened. Watch out for neutral feedback.

He told me the night before when we had made arrangements that he had messaged me back saying he wasn't going to wait until the am for the emt, but I never got the message, he claims he sent that message to the wrong person after I told him I never got it and sent him pics of my inbox aswell as our conversation and agreement with me stating that I would take it.

He would have a copy of it in his sent messages if he did in fact send the message.

This would be true if he had his save sent messages turned on.
It would be nice if the seller was named but I guess one can check martinrene's feedback to see who this deal was with...no?

Everyone operates a bit different but I only deal with one person at a time. I let other members know they are 2nd, 3rd etc in line. If initial buyer changes mind I move on to 2nd buyer. I personally wouldn't pull the rug out from someone.
I'd do the same in that situation.. lets see how it ends up..
Same with me. I deal with one person at a time, in the order the PM's come in.

It's first guy to send the EMT for me.
I've had too many deals lost waiting on slackers who PM you "I'll take it!" and then never respond or respond a week later with a story about how they're sorry but they now have to pass. Meanwhile, there's 10 other dudes trying to throw their money at you and you're trying to be a gentleman and wait on some guy who says he wants soemthing bad but takes his sweet ass time to continue comms.....
Unless it's a special arrangement made right away through direct messages, then it's first person who gets an EMT into my bank that gets it personally.

This: very simple.

That: from a guy who raises the price after the fact because of offers above his asking price...

If you are worried about that end of things put a time limit on it.
re: EMT within 2 hours or I go to the next in line.
"first to EMT" is against the rules btw

First "I'll take it" gets it from me. However, if multiple people answer one of my ads for the same item then I put the "I'll take it" onto a clock (24 hours) to come up with the EMT. Everyone is informed of this and it works out fine. It's rare the first person doesn't come through...but I have had an occasion where it actually went to the third person in line due to the clock being imposed.

He came to the realization that he had sent the message to the wrong person, I'm not going to give his user name out, I sent him a link to this thread regarding what he did and how pissed off I was, but he's made it up to me, and he didnt have to do what he did. He can reply to this thread if he wants, I'm not going to throw him under the bus.

Either way.. whats the point of negative feedback if it seems like it's against forum rules to use it??

With everything being said in this thread it looks like several people have had something similar to this happen to them..

The longest I've waited was the next morning and the buyer asked if that was okay. Every other deal I've done the EMT has come in within a few minutes to a couple of hours at most. I certainly would not wait a week like you have.

First EMT is AGAINST the rules!! plain and simple!

For me, it's the first "I'll take it"

I don't care how you pay for it. cash, cheque, emt, etc...

I don't care if you want to walk it here from Alberta ffs...

I find many of the younger generation just have no koot! Smarten up...
