"Action: Full Automatic"

...what? So SCARs are now prohibited and ACRs are non-restricted? My good lord the people that classify new firearms are full on retarded.

ACR rifles now can become a SCAR type rifle and prohibited. It doesn't take much to have it happen. In the 1980's, the government just copied a list from the ATF to make things prohibited.

What gets me is, how the f*ck is anyone supposed to get the F/A parts to turn their S/A SCAR into a machinegun ?

Those parts are STRICTLY regulated now, and a Canadian (without proper authorization, meaning they're already allowed to buy F/A in Canada) couldn't get the parts even if they had the $...

Absolutely rediculous...

The idiocy of the so called 'experts' in charge of this farce never fails to astound me. I wonder sometimes if the RCMP even understands the basic operating principals of semi-automatic firearms... Their argument of quote unquote "too easy conversion" is like saying that toasters are inherently dangerous because they can start fires with small modifications. And besides, it isn't like there's already ACRs in the country which have many of the same features, because allowing one in but banning the other would be silly!

Far be it for me to defend the decision, but there is a distinct difference between the ACR and the SCAR. The ACR has a specifically-manufactured SA receiver that will not accept any FA components. The SCAR (presumably, based on the decision) has a FA receiver with SA parts, that can be readily converted to FA with no modification whatsoever.

Even the guy that imported them for the review by the RCMP was surprised how easily the SA was converted to FA.

Well there you go. :(

Huh. I didn't know that, I will say. I'm a bit confused though; aren't most AR-15 receivers capable of accepting full auto sears?

Nope, the lower needs to have a large pocket machined out, and then the 3rd pin hole drilled through in an exact placement just to get the sear to actually fit. Then you need to get ahold of an auto sear, full auto hammer, and full auto disconnector.

It takes quite a bit of work, and even "DIAS" (Drop In Auto Sear) won't just fit right in, they have to be tailored to the particular gun. That's if you could even find one for sale, since the US has all the registered ones, nobody wants to even think of making a post-86 DIAS. So you would need to manufacture one which is not an easy feat as they have to be properly heat treated and made to very tight tolerances.

If FN ACTUALLY just took a full auto lower, and re-marked it as a semi-only and threw new components in, they need to be issuing FULL refunds to the import companies for return, and Questar I'm sure will offer full refunds to all the pre-orders they took.

North Eastern Arms:

Lower
Billet Receiver
Type III Hard Anodized
Flared Magwell
Enlarged integrated trigger guard
Milspec Standard parts kit
Milspec Standard charging handle
A2 Grip
6-Position Carbine Stock (commercial)

Bolt Carrier Group
M16 Full Auto BCG -- vs SA Carrier Group
High Pressure Tested (HPT)
Magnetic Particle Inspected (MPI)
Properly staked gas key

NEA uses all full auto parts in their rifles. I guess to save production cost so they can use the same parts in the MIL/LEO guns.
I guess one could just CNC up them self an AUTO sear. On the other hand, I think the semi auto BCG are not compatible with auto sears.

Do i know what i'm talking about?

That is absolutely stupid. As if anyone could actually obtain these full automatic parts even if they wanted to. I guess if it's ok for Americans it'll never be ok for us according to our federal "gun experts".

It's moot, because the SCAR-16s was never authorized for civilian ownership in Canada. So even if it was classified as restricted, you still wouldn't be able to get one.
