I just bought one from a fellow member and I was interested in learning a bit more about the reliability of the Norinco M4, when I stumbled on this video. I thought it was pretty amazing... The only malfunctions appear to be fault of two magazines.

Could be a repost, but I haven't seen it here on the forums in at least 6 months :p

LOL. Shooting in a controlled environment and dipping the gun in water to cool it off is hardly a reliability test, if at all. Mags or not, it still jammed.

Lets see the gun crawled with through mud and sand and rocks, driven over with a jeep, fire it 'till the barrel glows like a cherry, pry a few doors open with the barrel, bury it in sand and try it ... and that's for starters ... then you can wow the rest of us.

Did it Jam?

I saw a stoppage resulting from a failure to feed.

Ever wonder why they send us the crappiest mags with their guns. It's a cake selling norcs to Canadians when they know we can only fire 5 rounds at a time and stop to reload.

That gun should have NEVER jammed with the type of shooting done in that video.

what it confirms our doubts? its has a bunch of stoppages and they cool the gun??

yikes, i find the norc crowd really goes crazy apologizing for stoppages and making excuses blaming it on this and that. I know the guns have their place but stop saying they are reliable.... do that with a galil or ak or swiss or even a properly made AR and it should run fine...

Yup, failure to feed. I would bet a coke the first time it screwed up it was operator error (read improperly seated mag) over and over again.
Anyone who watches this video and thinks these guys have a clue what they are doing needs to take a carbine course.

Jam goes on toast.
Rifles have stoppages.

Do that with a Galil, or an AK and there's a great chance you'll go directly to jail, firing either one of those rifles is (generally) a criminal offence within Canada. The Swiss - you're sh*tting me, right? - the three thousand three hundred dollar Swiss. We're talking about a seven hundred dollar rifle, for use on the one way range, by guys who go shooting four times a month at most. I don't recall anyone suggesting we follow Paraguay's lead and issue these rifles to troops, or even cops for that matter. In short, they are a toy gun, and for the price they offer good value and reasonable reliability. The fact that they are available means there are more restricted rifle owners out there, which, regardless of how you look at the gun itself, is a good thing.

That's why I said they have their place man, read the post before u lose ur ####,and no I'm not "####ting u" I was commenting on its relaiblilty not its price my friend its not my fault some people can't WORK enough to buy a swiss. I'm just sick of the apologee's for stoppagges, if u can only afford a 700 doller gun great buy it but don't try to pass it off as something its not ie a "reliable" rifle.

I think that what is most apt is the opening scene with the gun in a garbage can.

I'm not losing my sh*t, far from it. I would say that the Norc (from experience) is a better rifle than, let's say, a new Bushmaster. Price difference, about $600 (around here). Is it the equivalent of my old Delta H Bar, no. As far as not working enough to buy a Swiss, that's a little much, even for CGN - out here in LaLa land, you blow $3K a month on your mortgage, if you don't live in a good part of town - so it's kind of relative.

I pay $1100 for a one bedroom in Victoria for rent, need more money for guns! 100 year old house means high electrical bills

I want to pick up a Norc. Poor student and all that. I'm not worried about finish at this point. I just want a rifle I can kick the crap out of and not worry about getting a ding on the finish.

Haha get an SKS in synthetic stock then. That's seriously the best student gun, ammo is cheap and the gun costs like $200.00
