Forget the GSG-5......Take a look at what one guy did!!

One of these days I'm going to have to get around to machining it... its been alive as a solid model for far too long.

That looks pretty sweet. Where did u get the cad files for the 10/22 receiver, or did you make them yourself?

This is hilarious! I was thinking of using my stockpile of old airsoft gun parts to due this sort of thing with then I just accidently stumbled over this thread!

So when this thread started it was about a guy who made a 597 pretty 'tacticool" with a $35.00 AirSoft kit.

I have seen many AirSoft conversions on 10/22's, and think I may finally have to make one of my own!

How do you know what kit will work on a 10/22?

These 2 are my favorite so far.

Which AirSoft kit that would make either of these possible on a 10/22?

A $35 airsoft"kit" will be junk.
But there are some airsoft brands you could probably do a very good 10/22 conversion. One comes to mind, a RealSword AK47 might work. They are a very good, and strong metal receiver. Wood stock, or folding. You would have to get it special through a dealer, or register with AirSoftCanada(ASC) and you can find out what is available. They are basically shells that could possibly be modded to take a 10/22 receiver. And they come in many flavours.

I was disappointed with the airsoft route I used a TM shell (one of the better ones) but it still cracked, accuracy was as good as stock (original). I would suggest going the nordic et al. route.

If you are really bent in going the custom route, check this site out...

Yeah, a TM G36 will be an all nylon reinforced plastic. And stress would likely crack the receiver.
The metal types would be more suitable. an MP5 ;) or AK74, or I was thinking a Sig 55x conversion, if the Sig 522 gets killed.

Problem is you are getting into a grey area with the MP5 / AKxx to say the least. I chose the G36 because the actual REAL G36 is a Non-restricted firearm, If you call your build a replica "insert firearm name" you can be in crap too because replica firearms are prohib

Replica firearms are prohibited.
To be prohibited as a replica firearm, a device must closely resemble an existing make and model of firearm. If it looks like an antique firearm, as defined by the Criminal Code and Criminal Code Regulations, it is not prohibited.

The Canada Firearms Centre receives many enquiries from people wondering whether an imitation firearm would be considered a replica if it resembles a real firearm in many ways, but it is made of clear or brightly coloured plastic, or is much smaller in size.

Many of these devices need to be assessed case by case. As a general rule, however, those made out of clear plastic and those that are a lot smaller than the real firearm are not prohibited replicas. Those that are brightly coloured might be prohibited, depending on other features.

Air softs aren't firearms under law so this doesn't apply, it's a very grey area, but since G36's are non-res I went with that design to avoid potential headaches, the styer AUG above would likely not be a good idea but that's a whole other can of worms...

there are lots of other "fact sheets" on the cfc website however some seem very confusing to the reader to say the least.

doesnt matter, you arent building a replica, its just an "aftermarket stock" the gun is still whatever it is underneath.

Yeah I guess that is a red light situation. Although the Thompson is a restricted, and there are kits for it. I thought the G36 is restricted ???, SL8 I know is non restricted.

This isn't a 10/22 or anything but, i really want one of these kits.

The kit uses a AR-15 or M16 lower assembly and makes it a beltfed .22 lr. No more reloading magazines! just nylon and sliding the .22 into the slot.

:eek: WTF is that?? Is something like that legal in Kanuckistan? I like!!

To be exact, it's a belt fed top reciever for an AR-15 or M16 bottom reciever. It's manufactured by Lakeside Guns. It's called the "LM7" kit. Here's a link. I want to get one so bad, it's not even funny. I'm also from Saskatchewan, so if you do happen to get one, and i don't i want to see this.

Farmb0y,

Unless you can find other people to split the costs of the export license, Eric is not ponying up for the money on his own, and adding $2500(ish) on top of the cost of the upper is a little bit much.

I've asked. Quite directly.

I did not realise that it needed a license to export these. So, yeah, and if i win the lottery i wont need to work, and i'll get a bunch of these, sell them to the highest bidder. :D But yes, $2,500 is too much for my liking. But it looks well designed. Maybe if there is a cheaper addition, not to mention it's that much, adn then the cost for the AR-15 or M16 lower reciever.
