Fort McMurray Trap & Skeet Starts March 29

It's been a long winter I had adjustable combs installed on both of my 725 sporting guns, and my Briley chokes arrived for my 725 20 gauge, so I am really looking forward to shooting.

Nobody at our club seems interested in seriously competing, or in taking on the responsibility of organizing and running an event.

That's too bad..... :( understandable though as it takes up alot of your time scheduling, organizing and looking after a registered shoot. It has to be something you really enjoy doing to volunteer your time to it.

We have several people that really enjoy trap and skeet, and that shoot a lot, they just aren't interested in serious competition.

Sunday was a good education for many shooters. Winds were very strong, and it played havoc with the targets. I broke a few targets from the high house that were within a few feet of the ground, and one target actually hit the ground before the low house. Some newer shooters never even got their eyes on the second target when shooting doubles.

The only time I have ever really considered registered shooting as serious competition is at Provincial, Canadians or the Grand American. Other than that it's just getting the required number of targets needed to attend those events. I always put fun first and the only person I am competing with is myself. It's me against that machine and I don't want that machine to best me, lol.

I haven't figured out how to load them so they will hit the ground "running"!
If you had seen that high house fly would think that the danged thing was out of adjustment until the wind dropped!!:bangHead:

Exactly, the targets from both houses were going pretty much center of the hoop on a calm day, but the strong gusts from behind the high house were really pushing some of the targets down. On the other hand, many of the low house targets were rising way up, and just hanging there. In between the gusts, the targets flew just like a person would expect them to. You stood on the station , called for the targets, and waited to see where the targets were headed. Some people found it frustrating, but people like myself and the Cat tend to enjoy this type of shooting.
