Found awesome, cheap steel targets local in Toronto!

Well, I got the chance to shoot the targets at 550 meters this weekend with a huge array of firepower, everything from 6.5, 7.62x54R, .223, 338 lapua, and .50BMG.

I ran out of time to go back down to check out the targets, but from our spotting scopes, it is pretty clear the only things on the plate damaged is the paint. The chain system worked perfectly, I am very happy with it. It took some hits very near to the hardware with no visible wear. (Through a spotting scope mind you) 10x faster to set up then a cable system, and easier to repair if it does get shot down.

Off center hits with the .50 were hilarious to watch, the gong and chain, weighing over 100lbs, would flip around 360 degrees, and a second later you would hear that wonderful *PLINK* noise. :D

I won't have pics of the target for another month until I get back out there, but I can tide you over till then with the gun #### photos of the weekend that I did take. More will come when the other guys post up.

I was wondering about the hand cuffs in the upper left corner of your pic. Having just watched "Pulp Fiction" again, I have to say I'm a bit reluctant to ever accept an invitation to your place..... :p

:D :adult:

KIDDING!!!

Seriously though, they were a gift to my father that we got from a retired police officer, he would kill me if I tossed them out.

Had a chance to shoot these targets some more. Today they were laced with 140 rounds of .223 at distances ranging from 275 to 475 yards,

20 cartridges of 6.5 Swede from 475 yards (Every shot into a 3" group in the head) and another 100 cartridges of 30-06 from my M1 Garand at 150 to 50 yards.

The steel is 100% smooth to the touch, the only roughness is from bits of the 30-06 from super close range that welded a very small bit of themselves onto the target, but they were scratched off with a knife, leaving the target still perfectly smooth. One hit the very edge of the target, and with no word of a lie, there was not a milimeter of deflection or bending of the steel. The steel is so hard that deflection is only about 6 degrees backwards from the target with the spawl.

The mounting system, while a bit more expensive then rope or cable, is so incredibly fast and easy to set up, and is amazingly durable. We had multiple 6.5x55 hits within about 1" proximity of the shackles and hardened vertical chains, and they don't have so much as a dimple or scratch on them despite the fragmentation, just some lead splash coated on top.

This mounting system, with 3' of hardened steel vertical chain, mild steel chain run for the horizontal run, set about 6-7' above the ground, to allow for easy mounting, and leaving 1-2' between the bottom of the target and the ground to swing, even with snow present.

Matt, PM will be inbound shortly. I want more! :D (A few smaller sizes if you have some left.)

I got the same target. Painted it white with a 6" orange circle in the center. Check out my history to find a link to pics of them.

Rock quarries use AR500 a lot in their crushing equipment. So they have a lot of it in their scrap pile. Hinty hint hint.

I just got another sheet cut of smaller targets.

PM if interested.

I am glad you are enjoying them.
