wow! a voice of reason! 8-o
The most important accessory he is missing is a beard.
Never mentioned anything about his rifle, I think it's a great example of what a working AR needs on it. None of the extra random sh*t that serves no purpose other than to weigh you down. As for the amount of stuff granted I'm not in his situation, so I don't know exactly what is required. But I should have worded it a little better, I more meant that it's a lot of stuff and seems crammed in to any available spot. Just my opinion that it's more of a tour rig. As for the possible shotgun shells in a grenade pouch. . . fill your boots I guess. I'd think that it would be a hindrance being in there, but whatever works for him. Still stand by my previous opinion that the med pouch is in an inaccessible place. Maybe he's one of those guys that puts it on his back so that someone coming for buddy or first aid will have to roll him to use his kit thus remembering to check his back for any wounds. However, you still need to be able to reach your pouch for self aid.
A number of LE are also ex military.
A larger number of US LE also buy their own gear compared to Canadian LE, due to it being allowed as well as not provided by the dept.
What kind of bow? Crossbow? Compound? Arrows and soft armor don't mix.
celtic1123:
The shotty shells are carried to top up the shot gunner's ammo if he needs it (kind of how we each always carried a spare box of ammo for the LMG/GPMG), or if the gun is passed around as needed.
As you made note, the IFAK is located so the operator using it on him can access it readily.
Generally, self aid in a tactical situation involves fighting your way back to a (more) secure location for aid. If it's not bad enough to put you down, you can generally get to help or clear the area before you're incapacitated.
I am not sure what agency you work for but IMHO you need to put more thought into a bail out bag.
EDIT - and you have the luxury of choosing what firearm you can take?
All I would add to it a Inforce WML light, folding front post, rear flip up sights, and a micro aim point, and a CTR adjustable stock.
And look at that ar. more tacticalthen anything useful.
Well, this is 5 minutes of my life I'm not getting back...
