I wondered how this was going to play on CGN; as usual, not well. I got a call today from Wolverine re: the delay and appreciated being offered the option to cancel given the unanticipated time delay and price increase. Expecting an importer to take a loss because you made a partial deposit is asinine. I elected to keep my order, if you're not happy please cancel yours so I can get mine faster. YMMV, but I consider Wolverine's testimony in Ottawa and long history of importing new and interesting firearms part of the overhead on a firearm like this and, IMO, its price for a PCC is still reasonable.
My first thought was that I'm glad I'm able to get one of these under the current firearms regulations in Canada. Looking forward to the Conservatives taking over the government in the next election and keeping the Liberals from tightening the screws on Canadian firearms owners again. Being outraged because I'm going to pay what a firearm cost is not even on my radar.
As those above said, pre-orders are fraught with difficulties in Canada. Have had multiple bad experiences as well, only rolled the dice this time because it was Wolverine, anticipated timeframe was short, and it was a partial deposit. As the demand for 18.6" 9mm barrels in the US is so low (who wouldn't rather have 1 16" if it was NR), and PCC's are selling well, I'm disappointed but not surprised that it happened. I think Wolverine's response is fair under the circumstances, which were out of their control. I think the downside of not rolling the dice on pre-orders is that we won't get firearms like this quickly (or potentially at all) if no one's willing to put their money where their mouth is. So many cool black style rifles that are NR lately, biggest problem is trying to figure out where to spend my money.
