Garmin has done a masterful job of putting this thing in on the shelves of every big and small 'sporting' store in Canada - while simultaneously enforcing a rock solid Minimum Advertiseable Price policy ($799).

Garmin is a big company and they must have the production capacity to produce these things in large numbers. They will also continue to produce loads of them for years. I'm not worried about finding one in the spring.

Seems like that's what's going on. They produced a PILE of them and shipped them friggin everywhere for launch, and they're consistently releasing more. Says "Available to ship in 5–8 weeks" right now on their website, and I don't figure that will really get worse (Probably better, once the initial hype wears off). You buy, they build, they ship. Might have better luck finding one in a store locally, but no worries about having to BUY ONE NOWWWW or miss the boat.

Cabelas has them on line and in some stores now. I bought one on Wednesday.

Cabelas has 5% veteran discount. Many smaller stores do not.

I got mine at Cabelas because it was available (Wednesday this week). No shipping charges either.

I have a magneto, and I want the Garmin, but for how often I use the magneto, I think I'll keep it. That Garmin would sure be nice though

That's my thinking too. I've seen them in stock at many different places, even had them in my cart and hovered over the button to complete the order, but passed because I'm wanting to buy from a retailer where I get a discount.

But I'm thinking maybe I should have just pulled the trigger because I've seen the price go from $799 to $824 to $849 now.

Interesting to note the CAD price is going up when the exchange rate should have it going down over the last month.
