garmin chronograph

The battery packs or power banks charge cell phones as well as anything else that can be charged with a USB cable. They can charge the Garmin (and the Labradar). They come in different sizes. There's lots of different battery packs or power banks available.

The same goes for hard plastic cases. While Pelican and Nanuk make excellent cases, there are many others easily available in a variety of colours and sizes. I ordered one yesterday for just under $50 delivered. This one is approximately 11.6" X 8.3" X 3.7" (outside dimensions) with configurable foam inside.

VEE Nice !! From Amazon ?

Caldwell also has the VelociRadar out in the next few months, instead of using Doppler it uses Chirp technology which measures the projectile at multiple distances from the muzzle and gives you true BC value for each shot as well as velocity.
Also supposed to be 100.00 less than the Garmin.

Caldwell had a previous VelociRadar model that's discontinued (see below). The newer one is shown on the right.

The new Caldwell Velociradar appears to be larger than the Garmin but is still smaller than the Labradar. Its "chirp" technology is a type of radar.

Here’s a pic to explain the difference between Caldwell’s “chirp” and the rest’s Doppler.

Granted, it’s Caldwell’s point of view on how their “competitors” works. The lower Doppler is not an unknown distance. Garmin has said their software uses the first 20 or so metres to pick up a signal. After that, it ignores any other signal that crosses the beam width further down range. Thus, the Garmin will never give a false reading. Or miss a shot.

Is the LR made in Canada? Or just assembled in Canada?

Im betting some of it's made here but the electronics are imported. Either way I would rather support Canadian jobs over a fully made in Taiwan product that requires a smartphone app to operate correctly. These new Garmin ones, being app based will be real useless or lose most it's features when it's no longer updated and taken off the various app stores.

Well, I use my chrono without the need of its app, same as the LabRadar, if you want to use the raw data for more accurate and advanced measures, you will need another software. I believe it applies for LR as well.

I still have a LR as a spare, but the garmin is in my range bag all the time now, just because it is more convenient and user friendly.

I hope LR can close the gaps they have now, more competition is better for us.

I thought you were referring to me until I saw you are in NS. That said I do have a flip phone.;)

The Garmin will work without a phone and app. So will other chronographs that connect via bluetooth to a phone. The app will facilitate ease of use and make available calculations that can be achieved by other, less convenient means. I still have a chronograph that only produced the velocity of one shot at a time, and nothing else, not ES or SD.

Cell phones and apps are here to stay. So long as the Garmin app isn't only available through a source that may be subject to western sanctions, there should be no reason to fear that it will disappear.

Yes. Amazon has lots of different sizes available, some in different colours too.

Got my new "orange" case yesterday...lol All "plucked and filled" I Love it !
However...Not too thrilled that amazonia threw it into a gray plastic bag only...bag had holes in it, and a few scrapes on the case's outside corners.

Oh well...I now don't have to worry about getting it scratched...lol
