Girsan Regard Thread

Thank you for the link! was a very interesting and helpful read.

UPDATE ON MY GIRSAN -
These both took place well spread out in the 1000 round count.
Firearm was cleaned well after every range day. Not a big concern, both malfunctions took place with the 115 Grain ammo.

Just keeping you posted on my experience.

I think many people find that their pistols prefer the added "push" of the 124 gr 9mm. It might make a difference when the gun is slowed down with dirt or in the cold. I'm not sure how they compare to the 115 gr in terms of IPSC power factor but it could be a consideration depending on the load. For the pennies involved, I stick with 124 gr myself. I've tried Wolf reloads, S&B and soon American Eagle. S&B is a good choice when they can be found. I bought AE only because my retailer (Lantz) didn't have S&B.

Could be an angle of the camera, but the back of the grip on your pistol reminds me the old Beretta Vertec a bit, instead of regular model.

good eye!

Yah I bought alot of 115 grain for the Black Badge course.. sooo hopefully no malfunctions with that, switching over to 124 grain now though

Now I'm just guessing, but I'd say Nestor has been exposed to a few different makes/models of handguns. Most of his comment have been thoughtful and reserved (and the ones that may not fit that description are probably due to his not unreasonable irritation). Judging by your reply's you seem to be taking this a little personal, it couldn't hurt to keep some of your thoughts to yourself. As for it being a good shooting gun, so far so good, time will tell if it's as good as the Pistol it was cloned from.

Yes it does...

As much as I like it my Girsan it's a turd beside my 639 and 659...

Did I just say I liked a turd...

to the point of the gun being a clone considering Girsan bought the building and the Machinery that Beretta owned and still is using for being a clone , for my opinion on that said if you look or even feel the Beretta and the Girsan at the same time quality wise hands down to Girsan and if anything I think Beretta copied Beretta lol .

trev82 can you PLEASE learn how to multi-quote people and edit your posts to put all of your thoughts into one post.
Nobody wants to see you post 3-4 times in a row.. Thank you.

Ok a little help...I'd PM it but in case anyone else doesn't know, here's a quick and dirty way to do it.

First for pics. Get a Photobucket account (or similar) and upload your pics to it. Once they are there if you look close you'll see the direct link box on the right. You can copy it and paste it into the box you get when you click on the Image tab on the reply toolbar (it's the fourth from the right, "insert image" appears if you hold your cursor over it). You can also right click on most images on the net and go to properties and copy the image URL from there.

As for replying to multiple replies you can just enter
*cut and paste the line here*, and then end with "/quote" also in the squared off parentheses.

so...to quote redshooter is a demigod you would go (quote)redshooter is a demigod(/quote) but use squared brackets instead of the rounded ones.

Like this
redshooter is a demigod

I can attribute a comment to you by just putting =Trev82 in the line. It goes in the first brackets,

I wouldn't go doing what I did though, attributing a quote to someone when they didn't say it. Very bad form, and probably upset the mods...

Thank you, glad to see someone step in and offer a tutorial.

I use Photobucket which is easy when you get the hang of it. Once your images are uploaded, click on the one you want to post and then click on the image link which is one of the available options. That will copy the link and then you can paste it into the thread. There are several ways but I position the cursor and then press "Ctrl" and "V" which is the paste shortcut. For what it's worth, you can copy anything by highlighting it and then pressing "Ctrl and C" simultaneously. It becomes second nature after a while so don't get discouraged.

What is the frame of the stainless model made of? It is light compared to the slide. Is that aluminum? Is the frame material the same on both blued and stainless models? Is that durable enough to withstand sliding of the heavier steel slide if it is not real steel but some alloy? Just curious. Had a chance to handle the stainless steel one. Fit and finish seems superb.

SIG, Beretta, and others have been using aluminum frames for decades without issue.
Girsan frames are the same, aluminum with different colored finishes

Aluminium alloys are the alloys in which aluminum is the predominant metal, but not the only one.
There are many of the aluminum alloys out there though and the one that is used to make the frame must be very carefully chosen.
There is absolutely no surety that the alloy used for the frame on Girsan pistols is of the same quality, integrity and heat sensitivity as the one used by Beretta or SIG.
The most popular surface finish used on aluminum is hard-anodizing process. It offers greater corrosion and wear resistance.
Now, we also have not much information about the finish used on Girsan and we don't know if it is up to the level with Beretta.
From what I've seen it really isn't. Yes, it looks nice, but will it hold up? Time will tell.
