What qualifies as a 'respectable' group for a brand new shooter?
more details would be helpful. what distance to start and what do you mean the gun is brand new or you are new to shooting handguns?

II thought the gun was FUBARED until one of the experienced Glock guys dumped a mag inside 2" at 7 meters LOL !

...hate to break it to you, but that's pretty average shooting.
I have never seen anyone shoot close to this well in any range visit in the last 7 years. Only on youtube. Im sure its possible and maybe even 'easy' to do. But to call it average is a huge stretch from what i see of the 'average' shooter.
It's all about hand and trigger control. Not to hijack but I have the same question as I just stared shooting my Glock 17 as well. At 10m I my groups were between 4-5 inches and shooting slight left of the point of aim. For the heck of it I decided to try 40 m and all my 10 shots hit a 2' x 2' piece of cardboard...but the rounds were striking top to bottom on the left hand side of the cardboard. Thoughts?
