Glock 17 Slide noise

I suspect it's the recoil spring assembly. It's nothing to worry about. It's actually metal-on-plastic. I wouldn't put too much oil on it.

Could be the slide rubbing on the barrel, which is normal too. Pretty much all Glock barrels rub slightly on the slide and will eventually look something like this:

*This particular Glock was TORTURED so just look at the barrel :D

My Glock 20 is 3 years old, and still squeaks. That flat coil spring will carry a tune forever. I think it's fine to have a distinctive sound.

That is how a pistol SHOULD look - someone has had some serious range time with that one - awesome!

This post brought me back to when I got my new G17.
When I racked it, it sounded like I woke up a bunch of crickets. After a couple of sessions at the range the sound of crickets is gone.
Nothing to worry about.

Why do the rounds in that magazine look so much like 9mm. Even the separate bullet looks like a 9mm to me in that photo.

I think that is normal. After a few hundred rounds and a few cleanings/oilings it won't be as noticeable. The slide will loosen up a bit also. A worked in Glock feels much nicer.

Well, any glock I've had never lost that sound...it's the sound a glock makes when it's cocked...THOUGH I don't think I have put more then 5G rounds through a glock yet. I can tell almost every single one of my autoloaders by cocking sound alone, but the glock is definitely the most distinguishable. And that noise, still there after 5000+ rounds. I really don't know WHAT makes the sound though...I'll have to check but I am pretty sure my 17C with an aftermarket spring/guide rod assembly (metal) still makes the same chirpy noise.

You might want to replace your recoil assembly (at or about 5000 rounds).
