Glock 19 Gen 4 Canadian Edition

Send an email to S&W. The more interest we generate the more likely they will respond favourably. They eventually did with their 4.2" barreled revolvers after Ruger came out with their 4.2" Ruger GP-100.

I can't be the only one who thinks the extended barrel looks ....well just dumb.

Already done!!! And I agree about the looks - it just looks unfinished...

I asked S&W Marketing the same question as some have expressed here. Why not put a 4.25" slide aka FS slide on the new Compact frame and sell it up here, The gun would look like a finished gun as opposed to a puppy with it's first hard on, and be not significantly bigger than an existing G 19. In fact the size difference would be about 2mm longer. The Marketing rep said she would take it up with her superiors. I have heard nothing since.

The "Canadian Edition" Glock is nothing more than a way to flog off Gen 4 compact frames IMHO and it seems to be working. How Glock sells these guns north of $900 is a mystery to me. I guess they do because they can. The G19 sells for $547US or $678CdN At Budd's Gun Shop with night sights.

Where are you seeing19's for $900? The Canadian edition is $731.

From my understanding, Glock offers a custom G17 Gen4 to NYPD. Customized to fit 15 round G19 mags so they are interchangeable with current G19’s.

Some cops are criticizing another aspect of the Glock 17 rollout, noting that the department is purposefully limiting the number of bullets they can carry.

The gun, as designed, can hold 17-round magazines — two more than the Glock 19. But the NYPD had the manufacturer customize the Glock 17s to carry only 15 rounds so it would be consistent with the interchangeable Glock 19 magazine.

Am I the only one that thinks the maple leaf is tacky ? I like the clean look... no need to stamp it and shout out that our laws suck

We have a bunch of businesses in this country that exist solely because they market themselves as being "Canadian". Glock made an extremely wise decision by slathering that bad boy on there.

Not sure I agree with you. The factory 106mm barrel tells any Canadian aficionado what it is.

I fully support Canadian businesses, but the presence of obtrusive "Canadiana" is always a turnoff for me. One of the Canadian values that I like most is "understatement". I don't know if they stand to gain or lose more with the decoration. Also, I suspect that it is Glock's Canadian distributor who is responsible. Personally, I think it does look tacky. I choose to celebrate my Canadian identity in my own manner.

Also, it's wholly unnecessary, which (in theory) stands in opposition to Glock's design principle.

The Maple Leaf, however, would let range officers and law enforcement know at a glance that this is a legal G19 - No?

No. The serial number on the frame, combined with the registration certificate, a valid PAL, and a valid ATT, would let range officers and law enforcement know at a glance that this is a legal G19.

The maple leaf is like Glock's 'pig-nose'; it doesn't affect function. Aside from the aesthetics, it's meaningless.

Unless the gun went out and committed mayhem on it's own I would leave the legal vs illegal argument to the anti-gun crowd. No gun has ever gone to jail in Canada for being illegal. More than a few individuals, however, have gone to jail for using a firearm in illegal activities. The guns themselves are just innocent victims and are released by our courts to be converted into more Liberal acceptable products like electric cars.
