Glock 19 Gen4 (Special Canadian Edition)

where it is at:

The fact that getting a glock 19 in Canada with original glock barrel is impossible unless you have a license for prohibited. Simple.

Also, other than being polymers the mp and the Glock share absolutely nothing. One is made with cheap finishing and materials, whereas the other one shines in barrel durability, finish and accuracy (without mentioned reliability and a better trigger). Whoever denies this, simply never owned both guns to do an honest comparison

I would not total so harshly about Glocks.

When someone starts talking about how reliable a Glock is over any other modern pistol they either have not shot a lot or read to many Glock ads. Virtually all modern designs are reliable and all guns have parts break. The question I pose that you did not address is the attraction of a Glock 19 with a barrel length only 2MM shorter than a Commander length barrel ie 4.25" or 108MM. We can't carry up here concealed up here so other than shooting IDPA Compact Division, the attraction is more a boutique gun and I guess there is that.

Take Care

Bob

Damn dude, take it easy on Glock. I know Glocks have plastic sights and guide rods and they've had issues with frames cracking but I'm pretty sure their barrels are good to go. Also pretty sure they're as reliable as an M&P.

I agree, hopefully oem barrels are available too.

From the article in the first post in this thread:

Glock began selling Gen 5 editions of its model 17 and 19 pistols last month, but the Canadian model 19 will come only as a Gen 4, Cassells said. It will be a regular offering as opposed to a limited edition, and it won’t be possible to buy only the barrel, he said.

Or so he says!

One can still hope, and I would wonder, why not?

Money. Moving Gen 4 frames. Business. Not really hard to imagine 'why not' if you think about a business miscalculation and a cost/benefit analysis that shows it would make the company money.

I still think it's as stupid move, and many prefer Gen 4. With the incompatible changes in Gen 5, it's going to take aftermarket and oem parts time to catch up. I don't think Glock needs to blow out Gen 4 frames in the least.

hmmm decisions decisions.......

get a Canadian Model Gen4 or wait and get a Gen 5 that has a bunch of features i really want.

crap!

i do kinda like special editions but i really want the ambi functions and no finger ridges of the 5.

ill sleep on it, i sure everything will look better in the morning..... or not!

lol - I was clearly referring to the MP as the cheapest one of the two. My experience with MP pistols, was pretty bad.

I know, I was just trollin'. I've had both and only had one break. A Glock 23 trade developed a cracked frame near the serial number plate. I guess there was some bad polymer in the early 2000s but Glock was amazing. They paid shipping both ways and replaced the frame with a new one. They won me over for a long time with that but now that M&Ps are significantly cheaper they are the better choice.

That being said, I really believe they are equals in quality, accuracy, and reliability.
