Looking for somewhere to start with powders for .270 Winchester and/or .25-06. I've got lots of H4895, but it seems like a lackluster choice for either of these cartridges. Thoughts from the congregation?

I've been loading .270 win for 40 years. IMR 4831 or H4831 (not quite as hot as the IMR has been my finding) IMR 4350 has also been a good powder. I pretty well have stuck with 150 gr bullets for Deer and Moose.

My go-to load in the 270 has been: 130 Partition, WLR primer in a Winchester case, 60 grains of H4831......or
140 Accubond, WLR primer in a Winchester case, 60 grains of Vihtavuori N165.
Start a couple of grains low and work up though. Dave.

I like both IMR 4831 and H 4831 in my 270 win. If forced to choose one it would be IMR 4831 as it gives me a better case/bullet powder ratio. Less compression than H-4831.
