Where can I get some strong stainless steel or otherwise rabbit snare wire. My brother wants some, he says the stuff he is using keeps breaking off. Any ideas?

in AB you need single strand...can get it at C tire, walmart, etc etc...
If I were anywhere that doesnt specify single strand, Id use picture why.

There are people who debate whether the AB reg means single strand in this way...

anyhow...

not to nitpick, but a chord is a sound that comes out of a guitar, the string is the thing you press/pluck/strum to make the sound.

Either way, that would get around the 'braided' part, since they're 'wound' instead.

Well... Some people think we should use whatever works... Those people are terrible... We should use what we are told and shut our mouths... Wierd eh?... Lol...

Whatever works, works,,,but sadly, it works on other animals as well, causes undue harm and suffering in some cases, but whatever...if a guy wants to do his own thing regardless of the hunting and trapping regulations, that's his choice.

That's a great point... But some of us know that the set setup is most important... Also some of us... Like my friend... think the premade spring loaded setups are king... Expensive at first but reusable...

i use brass wire, rolls are sold in the sporting sections at walmart and canadian tire. most rural gas stations all seem to carry it too. i cut the wire just long enough to make the snare loop, and use black stove wire to hang it.

Well, in ontario for example, to use a snare with wire larger than 22 gauge would be illegal, or smaller than 24 gauge..

Ontario hunting reg's also specify that they can only be used by licenced hunters taking varying hares, the wire be of brass or copper, 22 or 24 guage, they have an opening of 4" or less. And they can only be used north of the French and Matawa Rivers.

Licenced trappers are subject to different rules.

I've got Stainless Steel wire (buck expert bulk package) at Canadian Tire. I've got 4 rabbits on the new year eve night. Nothing break. It was my first time trapping. I've put 18 traps. Every rabbit that went thru one of the trapped trail got killed.

I was using between 22¨and 26¨ (depending of the diameter of the tree beside of the trail) doing a single loop at one end, forming the snare loop by rubbing the wire to a tree (eliminating sharp bend), keeping an opening of a closed hand. The Stainless Steel wire is firm enough to be attach to a vertical tree or branch.
