Honey, i reckon i will take my Alaskan 454 Casull...
Was also able to get some 454 Casull 240 and 300 gr Hornady ammo at SFRC tru their 8% sale, i am gonna reload for this hand cannon...
It should be here in maximum 3 weeks, looking forward to shoot the ALASKAN. sound mean... JP.:dancingbanana:

Did not realised it at first but after looking at the ammo specs.
This revolver of 5 inch long is approching one ton of muzzle energy... Just Wow... JP.

Congrats OP, nice piece. :)

I'm familiar with the firearm.

I own one (stainless Ruger Super Redhawk) with a 7 1/2" barrel that I keep and store in my home in New Hampshire for deer hunting.

Damn good hunting and bear defense firearm that's carried by quite a few Alaskans in the shorter 4" barrel version.

What does one do with such a firearm in Canada unless you're a prospector, geologist, pilot, trapper with an ATC ?

Kinda expensive to shoot paper punching handgun with a heavy kick.

You can also shoot 45 LC in it.

No insult intended. It seems so minimal to have a substantial firearm and only go to the range. Carry permits so hard to acquire as they are.

I always thought the minimal is always the importance you give to it, dont worry, be happy... JP.:dancingbanana:

It would be pretty boring if we only bought practical guns, JP can afford it and he can always use it with .45LC's if his wrists fail to enjoy stout .454 loads.

If I ever buy a hand cannon it's going to have a long barrel so I can thread it and run a compensator when needed and maybe a bipod for scope use.... :)

The 5 inch Talo would be a good testing ground for cheap and expensive red dots though with max loads!
The 2 inch Alaskan is "just in case".

Got a brand new Trijicon RM-06 3.25 MOA to fit on it, open sights will be fun to... JP.

I had a Super Redhawk .454. With full power loads I don't know anyone who considers it a nice shooter. I always saved it for last at the range when using full power hand loads. Mid range stuff was always a lot funner...

Congrats! I have a Super Red Hawk 7.5" that I take out now and then. Depending on the load, it is tough on the wrists ... I have mildly sprained my wrist a couple times when my grip was not solid enough. Very big bang! Causes heads to turn at the range for sure. Enjoy!

Buddy of mine has a Super Red Hawk 7.5", definitly a blast to shoot, literally, but leaves my hands tingling after shooting it :p
