Hind site is always 20/20.
Don't forget about the thread about a month ago where the guy had a savage that was having serious problems too.
Mind you in the end Savage bought him a new and better rifle. Lets see what Remmy does for this fellow.
The good news is for $100 and a trip to the smith you'll have a heck of a rifle. With a Savage a $1000 won't give you anything more than a Savage.
I wonder if we could ask green tips for a forum with a big box of kleenex in it for the cryers and complainers.....
Don't let the "one rotten orange in the box" sway you from whatever company made the rifle.
Every manufacturer of every product ever made has their lemons. This is fact.
If getting the one bad rifle in the bunch swayed someone from never buying that product again, srt4u2nv would not be singing the high praises of his beloved Savage. He would probably be singing a different tune if it hadn't been for the customer service of their factory.
Contact Remington directly (as has been stated) and see what they can do for you before jumping on the "never buying from this company again" bandwagon.
It has been stated over and over in the past that any of the rifle manufacturers can put out a 5pm Friday Special it just sucks that you happened to find one.
I have 3 Remington actions in use (+1 in line for a build) and 2 Savage rifles and I prefer my Rem's over my Savages. I have more issues with those 2 Savage rifles than I have had with all 3 Remington's that I currently run.
Looking at the pictures, it doesnt look like metal shavings from the actual rifle but rather from the casings themselves. The shavings are gold colored rather then silver. I know my 700 tactical does that. After every-time I shoot I have to wipe off the loose brass, its just all the edges are sharp inside my rifle and lightly scrape the casings. After using the rifle more it should smooth out.
i got another rem 700 sps varment in 308 yeaterday and its great cycles smoothy no problems here.
Update:
I went to lebaron and show them the rifle and explain the problems. The guy there check it out all around, and concluded.
Rifle ( in his opinion) has crappy extractor, and chamber is undersized, as well as mag follower is off. Also bolt nut are off and needs to be replaced.
They took the gun and will send it to Remington Canada in Quebec ASAP. for either replacement or possible fixing. At this time rifle is considered as malfunctioning.
I have feeling its my first and last Remington, same as years ago when I bought brand new Ford and weekly runs to dealership for fixing, after that I bought Nissan and never been more happier, 5 yrs old and running like new.
cheers
