No, it's trigger guard down and forward (not to the side). This is for the patrol model.
0. Make gun safe and remove magazine.
1. Hold pistol in right hand, pointing left (so you are looking at the pistol's left side).
2. Hook your left index finger through trigger guard and grip it with that hooking finger.
3. Place your left thumb up against the front of the trigger guard. Thumb tip should be up against the bottom of the frame in front of the trigger guard, ready to provide leverage.
Hard to describe but easy to see and feel. It is a natural feeling position, so try it before continuing:
4. Pull forward and down on the trigger guard, push up against the frame with your left thumb for leverage. The trigger guard should flex and come out. Once it has JUST cleared out, hold it out by maintaining a forward and down pull with your left hand.
5. With your right hand, pull slide all the way back, pull back of slide up and off the rails, and then forward off the gun.
