What's the big deal about this gun?
I know GSG is a good brand and has fewer issues than other brands.
Parts seem to be all metal.
However did you guys read the specs?
9.26 lbs unloaded w/o optics
So you're going to have a 10+lb .22

Guess we will see the accuracy and ftf/fte issues when people do reviews.
How's takedown and cleaning?
Does it take a special scope mount?
How much are extra mags?

Sadly some stores won't have extra mags. Sorta dumb it you ask me, However atleast its a 25 round mag.

So again, what is the appeal of this rifle?

If you have to ask you wouldn't understand
There will be accessories available , These are new to the Canadian market. Just approved for import

Well, it doesn't hold any appeal to me...but the MP-40 they announced at the same time sure does! :) However, the "novelty" factor for me starts to fade when the price exceeds $300. Not saying the gun isn't worth it, just isn't worth it to me. I own a couple of varmint guns in the 10lb.+ weight class, and shooting them offhand isn't easy at all...so I'm curious to read how people like them.

On a side note...I can't WAIT to see a photo of one of these guns in a gopher patch. Not entirely sure why.... :)

It would end up being a range gun for me just because it is what it is....a big heavy clunker of a .22, so limited appeal there. While it's neat, I'm not all over it due to it's lack of real world usefulness...

I think people are buying it for the nostalgia and being 22LR is easier to find then 8mm Kurz

Ppu makes kurz. Not hard to find new. A real stg44 semi auto is harder to find cheap though. Marstar sells them but there were reliability issues noted by past threads.

This is a clone of a ww2 rifle. Are there lighter 22? Yup. But this isn't supposed to compete with them or that market. This gun is a nostalgia piece for those that like ww2 Era firearms. It is affordable compared to that market and fires an inexpensive round. The weight and construction is designed to mimic the original. I like that fact.

I think people will either like it, love it, or be confused by it.

The GSG 1911 I have works well, and shoots pretty good, but it is not what i would call exceptional quality. The weight comes from cast zamak, and the barrel is sleeved with a steel 1mm liner in a zamak casting, every piece is basically cast zamak or low grade steel.
I'd need to see one of these in the flesh to see how well its built, but if it has the same dinky 1mm steel liner for a barrel I'd not be dropping $600 on one.

Plenty of video reviews online. All speak well of it. MAC had one issue with the bolt release but that was on an early production gun and seems to be a one off issue. No other mention of the issue on other reviews.

it appears to be a tac driver too...the weight no doubt helps steady the rifle, but that one review showed the fellow printing a 50 round cloverleaf free hand.

bench rest it may be a whole new story. :)

edit - however, I suspect a few things. a) WW2 b) German c) clone of the first 'assault rifle' d) LOOKS FREAKING COOL!!!

If I had to take a guess, I bet as soon as people get these, they'll be relisted on EE.
Lol for more than they paid of course!
Thanks for the replys!

Glad to know there are people thinking like me. To heavy to carry gopher hunting freehand.
Atleast its a good replica.
Have fun with it!

However don't complain about the weight, no extra mags - hard to find mag - cost of mags - hard to find scope attachments.
Or that you go through bricks of .22 @ $45+ when you do get it.
Atleast you have a smile on your face when you do!

Extra mag are on the way, as well as scope mounts.

I have my RDS, Sling and Mount already... Just waiting for the gun... lol...

Now all im waiting for is the MP40

Coming from a guy who loves 22lr why wouldn't you want this. Sure it's a novelty style firearm but at 10 lbs you really wouldn't take this into the bush!?!??!?!
Wow.

Don't worry I'll post a good review on it when I get it next week with my scope mount and 4x scope on it.
Considering almost every single review on all gsg 22 rifles are excellent I don't see why people would shy away from this.

Guess I'm in a different league then

I was gonna buy them from IRG but decided to wait to see Canadian MSRP, They Will probably end up being cheaper up here...

Handled one today at my LGS. Pretty awesome compared to the real deal rifle it's patterned off of.

Not really my thing but a fellow CGN'er that was buying the one of two that came in thinks it's pretty awesome.

So, I'm happy for him.

Don't forget being first on these new to market guns, usually means paying more then they will be in like 30 days once the rush dies down....
I remember the T97 frenzy where the pre-orders were $1050-$1150, and a month after they landed some places had them on for $850.
