Gun Belts

I've used a number of leather gunbelts from Milt Sparks, Bulman Gunleather, and The Belt Man. My next gun belt will be from Kore Essentials...it's micro adjustable.

I have a KORE Essentials gun belt in leather, love it. It's not tactical looking, looks like a regular belt (can be worn every day if you want), but like you said easily adjusted in 1/4" increments. Lots of choice in color and buckle look. Ships from U.S.

They also sell non-stiffened belts, so make sure you select gun belt.

An stiff inner belt stays with your pants and usually has a velcro material that mates up with an outer belt that holds all your gear.. easy off easy on

This is what I use;
I ordered this set with inner and outer: htt ps://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00RYMDC0M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

While these are called "inner/liner, they have hooks which work with the loop inner above; they do a great job. I leave the holsters and mag holders/pouches on each outer belt, and they are always ready to go:

You don't need to spend a lot of money to have a good, serviceable rig.

A 5.11 Operators belt is affordable and can be used as a regular everyday belt or a competition belt, many IDPA competitors use this belt and it serves it's purpose well without breaking the bank. Unless you plan on competing in IPSC or 2/3 gun competition a double belt is not necessary, although they are handy for dropping your gear quickly when nature calls :)

Or swapping the semi for the revolver in PPC to shoot another round!

I highly recommand canadian made PERSEC AWARE

I use his modular 2 pieces belt at the range and at work since 2017 and it barely shows any signs of wear&tear. I also own his EDC model and it is perfect for IDPA/IPSC CCW/Open Carry.

Custom made, lots of choice and Barry makes a hell of a product !

Is it worthwhile to get a MOLLE belt? Leaves options open for IPSC.

Anything with a plastic buckle is a no-go -- been burned too many times by those.

There are a lot more pouch options for the MOLLE option and usually its more affordable.

I use mine for work, so MOLLE was the only option I was considering. His new version is even better since he adds something where your holster is to make the belt stiffer at this spot.

A pistol belt is an excellent idea.

I wear a Uncle Mike's Instructor's belt. Stiff and quite cheap.

I'm also looking for a gun belt right now. If I can wear it everyday, that's a bonus too. Product info for the Instructors belt says the belt is 2" in height (width?), so that would not fit things like the Blackhawk Omnivore or Fobus paddle holsters, as the belt is too wide? But, would work with Safariland or other manufacturer's duty style holsters?

I'm not the kind of guy who wants/can afford all the tacticool gear, but a gun belt (or at least a sturdy one) seems like a good investment.

Any recommended sources for affordable but sturdy belts in Canada?

What is your intended use? There are so many options available for different uses. There are your standard stiffened leather or nylon belts ("instructors") that are 1.5" to 1.75" which can be worn for daily use and can be threaded through standard belt loops. There are "duty belt" gun belts, usually 2"-2.25" with a large plastic or cobra buckle (this is what you see most LE members using) they usually have an inner belt that is 1.5" wind and lined with velcro on the out side that mates with the velcro lining on the inside of the outer belt. Then there are "war belts" which usually require a belt to that runs through a channel to hold them up. These belts are typically padded, wider (2.5"-4") and covered in molle. And then there is what I would consider a hybrid of the duty belt and the war belt. This has become the in vogue belt. It is usually 1.75"-2" and utilizes the inner/outer belt system as well as 2 rows of "micro molle".
The aforementioned belts can be had from any where between $50 - $300 depending what you want and where you find it.
Personally I uses most often a stiffened leather belt for casual range trips (Mean Gene Victory Aegis), I use a 2" duty belt (inner/outer) system for work. And for my range antics I use an entry level "hybrid belt", however I am looking at up grading to a Persec molle belt.

Decide what you want to use it for and what your expectations of the belt are. If you are gonna hang a holster and a mag carrier from it a stiffened leather belt or "instructors" belt will do. If you are going to use it for competition and hang many (4+) mag pouches and a blaster and other stuff a double belt (inner/ outer, duty, hybrid) would be best. If you are going to invade a small country and want the ultimate in padded comfort then a war belt will fit the bill.
Hope this helps!

Thank you to the member who mentioned Persec Gear belts. I was in the need of a new belt as apparently I have had another growing spert. And unfortunately it's around my mid section that's growing. These belts are just the ticket. My last 2 came from CAL sewing out of California. Custom belts are expensive but are worth it.

Thanks. That was just the summary I was looking for.

I use an Ares Gear both on and off the range - a Ranger Light. It's a dozen years old now, but looks new except for some scratches on the low profile aluminum buckle. It isn't a belt that will break in, so they come pre-contoured.
