There are no new model 19 barrels available from S&w, used is a possibility. Another option I ended up doing is have a 586 barrel installed it has a full under lug, Murray Charlton did mine but has retired. Expect to shell out $700+ to fit a 586 barrel plus blueing the old S&w bluing is impossible to match. the job may cost less if your barrel is not pinned mine was pinned. I don’t regret doing mine it is a very accurate well balanced revolver!
I think tradex had a couple 5" barrels for them
I think those barrels that Anthony had are all gone, unless he got more in.
If you add a bit to the end of the barrel, it has to be bored out and a full length a liner installed.
If they changed that I havn't heard, nothing surprises me anymore.
this wouldn't surprise me, otherwise there is nothing stopping someone from removing the added piece at a later time.
Your logic is flawed...
There is nothing stopping someone from shortening a barrel at a later time either...

So I went ahead and ordered on of the 5" 38 special barrels from Trade Ex. Now to find someone willing and able to do the work.
Peter Riedel (Rusty Wood) here in Mission put a Tradex .38 S&W barrel on a Model 10 for me. $200 as I recall. So I went ahead and ordered on of the 5" 38 special barrels from Trade Ex. Now to find someone willing and able to do the work.
Leeper is retired. I don't know if he had a Gunsmithing license to work on restricteds, the fee is a lot more.
