Gunsmiths that you recommend

Can anyone recommend someone who can turn a S&W model 65 stainless to a restricted (from a prohibited 4"). ie Who can swap out to a longer barrel or put in a linier with an extension (if at all possible)?? In southern Ontario (preferably).

Calgary area

Christopher Ella in High River Alberta did a glass bedding and stock repair job on a 1956 Husqvarna for me. He touched up some worn blueing as well. He works out of his house and did a fine job. His number is 403-813-9308

How about Wortner's Gun Works in Chatham, ON? Any reccomendations? Yes/No's?
I would Highly Recommend George Wortner, he is an excellent gunsmith, with many years of experience, if you want something done to your gun, in my experience he is the man for the job, I talk to George regularly, and just some advice from him can change alot.

M1 Garand work

I had Jeff from Valley Gunsmithing do some work on my M1 Garand. I bought it off a seller on this board but it had a .308 insert installed into the barrel. Jeff was one of the smiths that was recommended for boring the insert out so off my Garand went to him. Not only did he do a terrific job with re-boring it back to the original .30-06 but he also took it to the range and blasted some rounds through it to make sure it performed properly. I would HIGHLY recommend Jeff for any Garand work. Also I must add that being a new Garand owner, Jeff was very patient with me and my constant "nagging" :D Thanks Jeff for a job well done!!

Just got off the phone with Karl from what used to be K&S gunsmithing in Edmonton.

He has closed up shop, as he put it "too busy with other stuff".

This sucks, as I've heard nothing but rave reviews about him, and I'm now hard pressed to find anyone else in Edmonton.

He did mention a guy named Hendriksen (sp?), though I've searched and nothing.

Anyone have info?

Saskatchewan Gunsmith

I had a Rem 788 LH 308 turned into a 22-250 by Niel Suttill and what a spectacular rifle. He put on a Heym 26" barrel ,lathed down to .87" at the muzzle. A definite tack driver. Would highly recommend Niel.

I'm thinking this should be stickied by province. I went through the whole thread looking for a good gunsmith in or around Montréal. I now know where to find a great one in Alberta...

Does anyone know if Brock ex of Hunter's in Surrey still does any work? Last I heard he moved inland somewhere. He did an AR trigger for me that's beautiful.

John Pullen. O/O Pullen's Gunsmithing. He runs a shop in Victoria, BC. He specializes in repairs and refinishing. His shop carries a wide variety of new and used guns, ranging from non-restricted to 12(6). If you go to the shop and see the cutaways he has done, and guns he has refinished, you will see that he is highly skilled. 14 years of doing business, and not a single problem with his work or used guns that he wasn't willing and able to fix.

I think Scott Stack may be someone to look up in the edm area. I have been away few a few years, however he was working a Mohawk bulk fuels when I left. Can be found around P&D. Like I said, its been a few years and I haven't been back to god's country for a long time.

Take it for what its worth.
