any pics of them in stock configuration? link to article?
Now the real interesting part is that these recently were approved by the German authorities for civilian sales. That means these will not only be available in USA but also worldwide. Since Canada gets our HKs directly from Germany this is good news, as we will not have to import from USA with their ITAR restriction but will get these through the regular import channels.
that is good news, I wouldn't want an american made HK even if it was cheaper by a long shot.

Its an older gun and in production with stable contracts so no R&D, it really should be around $1800 to $2500 tops with rails and all...If the price is a lot higher than you know someone is getting a huge cut on it..

Why are the HKs so screw happy? Most other rifles pull apart with pins etc...

My best guess would be that threaded fasteners are civilian and push pins are military.
Whatever they need to do to justify letting us have one is good with me. Pretty sure I read somewhere the G36 was built to go 20000 rounds without cleaning so I don't think your going to need to be able to do a tool-less field strip after a day out playing.
I own a newer SL8-4 and had an early production one way back when they first came out and neither has ever had a single failure to feed, fire, or eject.

I'm looking forward to an update on this one.
Damn this site! My wallet never gets a chance to recover.

If it's sub 3K I'd be surprised.

That only by comparison of their on the market rifles being pricey.

And this being unobtanium for so long with copies floating about... yeah Im sure it'll be in the 28-3500 mark.

/me hopes to get a C :D

Before we all get excited let's remember that RNicholls / FN Sporting is the Canadian distributor for H&K, they also are a publicly traded company that's answers to a BOD, unless they see value in importing this gun commercially we will not likely see it, not to be a nah sayer but they do the bulk of business in the LE/MIL side in Canada...

We will be meeting with HK directly during shot show and find out the skinny on these. Dont hold your breath it took 2 years for the MR556 to reach customers from the time they announced production. This wont be happening anytime soon, especially if this is a new model the RCMP will have to review (add another year once they receive a sample)

They already bring in all sorts of other HK pistols and rifles, including some that are specifically made for the Canadian civilian market (i.e. P2000 and P30 with restricted length barrels). Why wouldn't they import the G36?

looks like it is not named a G36 from that article and that the US gets a different model than us or the germans just like what happened with the SL8.

It will take a long time before we see any if it has to go to the RCMP.

H&K G36 civilian PHOTOS and details.

If I read the article correctly, it was just submitted for "public opinion" input in the beginning of November. You won't see this until 2015 the earliest.

Yeah read the model numbers none say G36 they say HK243 for the Germans and US version is HK293. Just like how the TAR-21 is approved in Canada but we had to send a sample of the SAR-21 to the RCMP.

Because companies can be strange at best - also since they have a BOD they will dictate what gets sold or not - sad as it is RNicholls could have had a a CDN specific G36 build for us a long time ago...
