Would only the 'long' be non restricted?
Six month ago I mentioned that these are coming and today there are more details and some great news. Here are photos of the upcoming G36 civilian rifle, shown here with optional accessories.

that is good news, I wouldn't want an american made HK even if it was cheaper by a long shot. Now the real interesting part is that these recently were approved by the German authorities for civilian sales. That means these will not only be available in USA but also worldwide. Since Canada gets our HKs directly from Germany this is good news, as we will not have to import from USA with their ITAR restriction but will get these through the regular import channels.
Tite tite tite. I gots ta axe tha RL1 to buy me one.
Why are the HKs so screw happy? Most other rifles pull apart with pins etc...
They already bring in all sorts of other HK pistols and rifles, including some that are specifically made for the Canadian civilian market (i.e. P2000 and P30 with restricted length barrels). Why wouldn't they import the G36?Before we all get excited let's remember that RNicholls / FN Sporting is the Canadian distributor for H&K, they also are a publicly traded company that's answers to a BOD, unless they see value in importing this gun commercially we will not likely see it, not to be a nah sayer but they do the bulk of business in the LE/MIL side in Canada...
