i didnt see anyone post this information yet (correct me if I am wrong on that front)
but it will be designated the HK293 in US (an probably Canada) and HK243 in other markets.

Bolt and barrel have been changed and is not easily interchangeable with the G36 (hence it should not be considered a weapon of war by the German gov't)

And lastly, yes it should take AR magazines

US model will be US only and manufactured by HK USA due to their funny gun laws, the SL8 was different in the USA as well.

We will get the HK243 from germany in canada just like our SL8's all came from germany

How much were they? Where did you get them from? The mag itself is not the issue, from what test data someone from HKpro showed me I have zero doubt the g36 magazine might well be the most reliable mag system for any 556 rifle out there. But I have seen none for sale from any retailer except a couple in denmark and a few in great britain of all places and they were about 90 bucks a pop when converted to canadian dollars, as opposed to 20 bucks for pmags. I like to keep a fair few number of magazines for my rifles so the $70 price difference in mags add up fast.

I think they should offer both options, but I will be opting for the stanag mags unless we get the g36 mags at a decent price. Knowing R nicholls they will probably be 150 per mag.

They dont ship up here I'm getting my lem conversion for my usp through them. All logistics sorted that's again 70-80+/mag, more depending on how far you live from the border plus a lot of headaches.

$30 irunguns for the pmag, the authentic mags were a private purchase.

I can buy a lot of those pmags for just the cost of a quality mag well conversion kit for a SL8 or even the optional parts for the new HK243 to use stanag mags which I would also have to buy after the fact of converting

There appears to be a piece of plastic/polymer,
opposite to the trigger inside the trigger gaurd. Maybe it's a right hand index finger magazine release similar
to a BAD device.

If it takes AR magazines you can use LAR mags, or even beowulf mags regardless. AR15's aren't pistols but can be used with pistol mags. Not sure if I'm missing your point.

I love my G36 clone but the LOP was wayyy to long so I switched out for the new HK KV telescoping stock.

for 3.5k good luck to them... 2500 would be reasonable. That extra 1000 tacked on would whittle the market down to only a select few. for 3.5 id go valmet m78.

Consider it come with full rail hand guard top rail with folding iron sight and the IDZ stock
Those stuff together are worth more than $1000 alone
