Im looking for suggestions for a handgun to fit the wife types small hands.
She like the XDM but that's a hair out of my price range for someone that will shoot as often as her. Glocks are too big and she didn't like the M&P.
Has anyone held the new FMK?

I'm also looking for a cheap Bio-metric drawer safe.

You didn't state a preferred calibre but it you are looking for comfort and size the Browning 1911A1 .22 is great. I purchased one for my wife in Ferbruary to get comfortable and familiar with a handgun and she loved it having put about 1500 rounds through it since February. The gun is an exact replica of JM Brownings original design 1911 only downsized by 15% and the frame is made of aircraft aluminum making the gun weigh 1/2 oz under one pound. Last week I let a 5 year old try it with his dads supervision and he beamed the whole time, It must have made his day and several to come. My wife who didn't like guns became familair enough with it she has now graduated to a Glock 17.

Walther P99 or PPQ with small grip insert.
Sig P239.
1911 9mm with thin grips, (will need thinner grip bushings)
HK P2000 or P30 with small grip insert.
Ruger SR9

I have VERY small hands and my M&P40 fits perfect (with the small back strap). My Glock 22 Gen 4 is a bit larger, but still a good fit.

See if Sean at Freedom Ventures still has any of the STI GP6's left with the interchangeable backstraps.

The older frame was pretty good for smaller hands. My 10 year old boys could shoot it fine. The newer frame with the different backstraps should be even better.

The advantage is this gun really tames the felt recoil.

Make her try the M&P again with the smallest backstrap......

Bio-metric and cheap shouldn't be in the same sentence!

OK:)

Good point, I'm looking for 9mm or .40 sw.
Shes been shooting my P22 and likes it, but I'd like her to get into something with a little more power.

How does she feel about that? If she is happy with .22, why push her into anything else? That said, any single stack 1911 is a great gun for small hands and Norcs are available everywhere in 9mm and .45 Auto.

most single stack pistols, and .22's

but in larger caliber, 1911's. also i feel the kel tec Pmr30 has very small grips and is incredibly light.

Ruger SR9 has a smallish grip but it's a fair reach to the trigger which may kill the feel.

A 1911 in 9mm would be a good option. And they can easily be set up with a short reach trigger or the stock trigger can be cut down to a short reach style in some cases.

I have very small hands, I am about 5'6" but even my wife has bigger hands than I do.

For small hands the best guns I have handled are the CZ-75 and the Ruger SR-9. The CZ-75 has amazing ergonomics. The SR-9 is great as well, and is very light.

I do own an M&P and it fits my hand well with the smallest backstrap, but it just doesn't feel right.

If you want cheap plinking, go for the GSG 1911. It has excellent ergos for people with small hands just as all other 1911s.

Get a Browning 1911-22, 85% of normal size 1911 and less than 1 LB....

Does it have to be an auto? Revolvers generally have better fitting grips which are on the smaller side. A K frame Smith comes to mind.

I also have the Browning 1911/22 and love that little plinker. Otherwise the new gen 4 Glocks have much smaller grips as standard, with an adjustable backstrap for larger hands.
