It amazes me that there are people who have read this thread and still support HGH. Here we have grown men acting like little boys ("sticks and stones will break my bones....") trying for the right to use handguns to hunt? In MHO you should be given a slingshot, a spanking and sent to you room. Thanks boys! IT WILL NEVER PASS.

It's just a gun, get over it. We can hunt with a 50 BMG rifle if we want so why not something way less lethal. The original question asked if we'd support handgun hunting the results are in, that's all.

Are we on the same page g4g'z? I always make my first shot the LETHAL one, how's about you? The LESS LETHAL implications of HGH have just been posted...need more ammo maybe?

In my world, first shot counts, anything less is less than acceptable. So WTF would you ever suggest using anything less lethal except perhaps to satisfy your own little power trip of packing your pea shooter in the woods?? I suppose the long gun hunters would (and I say would 'cause it won't ever be "will") have to follow up and clean up YOUR mess.

I'm with you Gitrdun - I'm not into slow painful death. Sounds like Savagefan should join little league (then he can play with a less lethal base ball bat) and let the adults handle the hunting.
 
Hey...here's another scenario I've just come up with. Follow me on this one.

HGH hunting is legalized. Some gang member gets himself a permit to carry the handgun to a hunting spot. So far so good. He needs to whack some rival gang member on his way to his favorite huntin' spot. Picks off fellow wacko and gets arrested by the law. He's got a carry permit in the glove box, cops pick it up, media gets a hold of it. I guarantee you that the papers will report the incident and the word "hunter" will appear through the papers and the whole firearm and hunting community suffers the consequence of "free advertising".

Oh...and those that ride the fence with the "I don't know what to think" ... how do you know when it's time to take a crap. Pick a side ..for or against? what's it gonna be? And those that vote against...for cryin' out loud say something...anything, or is it just a girl that has balls???

The implication here is simple. Single cell creatures, or lobotemized humans only need apply. The thought process is not one that you think about "bozo", most SANE humans come by it automatically. Come to think of it, so do chimps.

Less bias or perhaps more education would be kinda handy.

Okay ladies, pull your panties outa yer cracks and wash out the sand. I used the 50 BMG comparison as a wee joke, it's overkill as is the 375 that I hunt with. I use this rifle because it is accurate as hell, kills fast, looks good and I got it for half of what I can sell it for. This is a funny argument as most times on this board, the troll girls are saying guys shoot magnums to compensate for small dicks as a bad thing yet you two are advocating it. Begs the question yeah? Hunting in the bush, most of my kills have been within 50 yards, the closest was 20 feet. Easily within range of a 44mag revolver. Still way less lethal than a big ass 50 but certainly enough gun to ensure a humane kill. Now back to yer knittin' gitrdum.

Just in case you didn't notice, it wasn't your spelling that I critized, if I wanted to be a spelling bee ninja, I'd go after Gatehouse, but htats hraldy fiar. Your biased polling is actually my point. Oh..."kinda" is perfectly good slang.

I wasnt' sure if "newer" was a FU or an Elmer Fudd speach impedement.

They'll take anything they can get, I imagine. Even the .22LR which you've all discussed for "popping grouse".

Enough of the silly stuff. So far, I've been asked to clarify my opposition to HGH. I think that I have and have been accused of not giving valid arguments to that end. Without reviewing all the posts, here are some of the reasons that were submitted as to why it should be allowed. Forgive me if I've missed some:

Because they do it in the States: Ok, cool...so move there.

Because you could pop a bird while on your way to elk, moose or deer territory: If you must eat chicken, then stop in at KFC. Big game are surely gonna stick around after you fire your cap gun.

Because it's more convenient and easier to pack a handgun: Maybe you need to pick a sport that doesn't require so much physical effort.

I can be just as effective with a 5" barrel gun and open sights. Elmer Fudd, Keith whatever... is (was) a pompous braggard fart that never documented how many animals he wounded. Ever heard of literary license?

It would be handy to have a handgun while riding a horse: I've hunted on horses for 30 years or better. Handiest thing I ever had was horse savy and a multi-tool ... cowboy!!!

Because it would be good defence when bow hunting: Well, if you're gonna bow hunt, then bow hunt. I can just see the bull#### here. Ooooh, can't make that shot with my bow....bang, there. Done, now I'll just tag it with my archery tag.
 
And your reason for not allowing is it may jeopordize your long guns. Woop-de-frickin do.

Well, as far as I know, they're not just MY long guns Joe, they are yours and that of many others as well.

You also give me too much credit. It's isn't me that doesn't allow it, I just don't support it and believe that making a stink about it, will only do just that....make a stink.
