Handgun Transfer

Frustrating to say the least! Anybody manage to get through without using shady techniques? I've been trying 2hours+ straight with no luck and am wondering if I am wasting my time.

Many have tried that and got hung up on as soon as the transfer word was spoken.

I got through this morning after 207 calls. I used 2 cell phones set up to dial the number and the correct amount of pauses between the 2 and 4. Got in the Q many times and the last Q for 28 minutes before she answered. She was very business like, crisp really and wouldn’t let me get the buyer in on a conference call to complete the transfer.

I got through using 1-6-1 this morning in 15min to complete a transfer. Took 6 dropped calls and 1 very nice CFP worker who wasn’t trained on that, but offered to transfer me, but the 2nd was able to help. Seller took a couple hours earlier using 1-6-1 and was able to get through.

Last week 1-6-1 took 10 people (all polite - kudos to them despite the volume they must be receiving) before I got someone who was trained.

Keep trying. Sometimes you are lucky and sometimes not, but it is happening.

Good luck!

After 179 calls I finally got through to speak with an agent to complete the transfer process. Over 200 calls last week without getting through to someone. He told me that he estimated it would take at least 6 weeks. They might hire more staff but they take 4 weeks to train anyways.

The agent also told me that I had to wait until myself and the seller receive the registration transfer confirmation before I can pick it up. However, the seller thought I could pick it up now that we have both called in. I don't want to waste my time trying to call the CFO for clarification so can someone help clear this up for us?

You definitely have to wait t'ill you get the notice from the CFO in your province.

Hearing the lengths some of you are waiting had me really worried. I ordered a Dagger on Saturday, received transfer notice from NS CFO today by lunch time. Honestly don't think I've ever had one approved that fast. Almost has me being suspicious.

And yet still crickets from the Sask CFO for transfer started the 31st and the 1st. I thought Sask CFO would be better organized. Oh well fingers crossed.

Thanks Henryboy. That's what I thought but I hoped I was wrong.

Yes, Henryboy is correct but when you’re talking to them while doing the transfer, ask them to put your email address on the transfer request form they send to your CFO. That way you’ll get an email advice when the transfer is completed by the CFO. Then you can mail the firearm right away after getting the email confirmation. The registration certificate will come in the mail some weeks later.

Good to specify. I always do it that way, so I didn't even think about it...

Sometimes it makes a difference if it is your first purchase of a restricted (which usually takes longer) or not.

Not my first rodeo by any means. If there was something I could do to expedite but dealer says don't phone and I don't have a file number to phone in anyway.

I am going through a dealer both orders say transfer pending or awaiting clearance. Was told not to phone that it would be handled by the dealer

Yes, that’s correct. The dealer will handle the transfer and you need to do nothing but as one poster here mentioned, if it’s your first one, there could be an additional wait and also some provinces will require a range membership proof for the first restricted as well. You’ve been around for awhile so probably not that, lol

Yup been around for quite a while lol.... Just a little disappointed at the Sask CFO. Hopefully it will all be done soon.

Trudeau and his laughable plan to curb gun violence is only adding value to blackmarket handguns and increasing incentives to smuggle in more.

Except he has no such plans and never did.
None of this is about curbing violence.
This is 100% about disarmament..
At this point it is so obvious, they are literally mocking us..
