Handgun Transfer

Well, managed to initiate a transfer today, using 1-4-2, in Ontario.

It can be done, don’t give up hope. I suggest having both parties on standby to be added into the call (depending on if the seller or buyer get through the queue first) so you can get it all banged out at once.

Once you receive the transfer notification from your provincial CFO, it’ll say date received at the top right box. I order on June 1st, so the following day they received it and turnaround was 6 days. Just posting for timeline purposes so peeps get a feel of the wait period.

Then there's possibly an issue. Our range members have been getting theirs like clockwork. The last 3 transfers have come in within 2 hrs of when we "figured" they would based on previous people letting us know when they got theirs. Yesterday guys were getting transfers from early morning june 1. Last night (7pm) I was notified of transfer through (from NB) that went in at 11:30AM eastern time on the 1st. Two range members got their June 1 (later in the day) earlier today (one from bc, other ontario). Everyone i have talked to with a may 31 or earlier transfer has gotten theirs (although those are all not first time r- buyers, maybe first time is slower)
 
Question: If a dealer has " Awaiting transfer clearance" stated on the order where in the process is the transfer and about how long does it take to complete before they can ship ?

That means they've submitted it and like you, they are awaiting the transfer authorization which in this case can take from a few days to a few weeks your guess is as good as mine....we're all in the same boat from Province to Province

I'm far from a first time buyer.
 
Just chiming in on the frustration of calling, calling, finally making it into the queue for a transfer and then getting disconnected after a few minutes. Unacceptable, but who can you complain to that is going to care ... oh ya that would be no one. I've got the 1 4 2 sequence down to the point I'm getting about two attempts per minute. Then if getting past the "We're sorry" notice to call back and getting the "Thank you" and into the queue for a transfer, the longest I made it there before being disconnected was just over 10 minutes. I'm at 6 hours of trying and counting.

So that means that an average of 26000 transfer requests were submitted between June 1st and June 9th....that's 2888 per day for Canada and more or less 288 per day per Provinces. Obviously some Provinces will have more than others like Quebec and Ontario due to Population numbers so....that means when I spoke to the Quebec CFO beginning of this week she said that they were treating 300 to 400 per day....so she wasn't lying. I know they are all working real hard and I figure mine should come in next week..

I was talking to a lady at Wolverine Supply yesterday. She said that based on the transfer numbers they figured about 35,000 since the annoucement.
 
Purchased June 4th but no transfer # yet... Retailer (won't name) told me today that I don't need the # before sending info to CFO for Transfer - indicated transfer was started from their side already - is this normal? With My past restricted purchases, I've always waited until I got the transfer # from Retailer... just a bit odd, but we are living in odd times, so wanted to ask the group.

Buying new from a retailer you don’t need to do anything other than wait for the mailman don’t you?
 
Got Elaine on the phone today through 1-6-1 and she was very nice and helpful. I had two transfers to complete she did them both no issues and happy help. Was less than 5 min, so 1-6-1 is still working if you can get the right person !!

I purchased this one locally in store, and normally they give me the number... I send my details along with # to CFO and once approved, CFO will email me the transfer / transport doc so I can pick the gun up from store.

No worries, thanks for responding... I just haven't had to wait this long for a transfer # from a retailer before - I completely understand the final transfer is backed up, but for retailer to tell me to contact CFO without the having the number is odd...
