has anyone tried instaling one of the Magwedge quick rails on a VZ58?

This is as much of a spread I can get.. I didn't have a small enough screwdriver on the range to adjust the rings, so I had only moved it as a single unit. I'll give it another shot with a wider spread this weekend. It's a '14 CSA VZ58.

If that doesn't give you a reasonable result then email me for a credit on this beast. As you and I have discussed, it may be that some versions of this rifle just don't play well with this rail.

Should have kept my mouth shut.. shooting is delayed to the weekend. Didn't realize the 3 hours I planned to spend shooting would be used up by my old lady doing her hair. Can't believe I overlooked that factor..

Well I had a different turn of events.

Put the MagWedge rail on my 2014 CSA 18.5" 7.62x39 and thru 160ish rounds NOT 1 SINGLE FAILURE!!!!!

I have no idea what changed or why it is shooting great but it definitely held zero perfect and ran excellent. I think where I have the velcro is the best spot for it.
Had several FTE on my 7.5" but will try it out on my 15.5" and report back

Right on, good to hear Bfiles!

We were out today.. just couldn't run optics on it without FTE. After two boxes of 20 I had to go back to plain jane naked rail with about 1 in 30 FTE. I may just need to buy a longer optic to get a better spread over the ejection area.

I think if you look at the history of this thread and this subject in particular, we had some idea there might be some issues with this design. I did test a few versions before this one, which by the way worked very well on my rifle.

The fact that some rifles seem to have variable experience with it is not a huge surprise given some of the things I have seen in fitting hand guards and other parts. The VZ we got seems to have been built without a huge amount of consistency.

I am grateful for the interest and the patience of those on this thread who have tried out this item in good faith.

Is there a way to just replace the rear takedown pin with a screw and nut combo? I find that just the rear takedown pin by itself is not secure enough and there is a little bit of wobble that would affect zero.

I decided to go with the KwikPin on this one so have no screw hardware available.

The hole is 5mm for what its worth, so perhaps you can find something that will suit it.

I have not even considered offering screw type hardware for this unit as I didn't deem it necessary and I having like the ability to take the rifle down fast. I am pretty sure if I had gone with a screw, there would be someone or other complaining I had just reduced the combat worthiness of the rifle, LOL.

Are you actually seeing an effect on the zero of your rifle, or just speculating that it might be affected?

Might be a stupid question, but I was looking to order one of these rails for my Csa vz 58, but when I was reading the description it was only referring to CZ 858's. I was just wondering for those who have installed one of their vz 58's what their experiences were? Thanks.

Edit: complete derp. Didn't read the last few posts to be honest lol.
